fumbles notice he ain't all that now that he gets to see dwight play on a daily basis. also he's out of shape and unmotivated.
So, I guess Asik needs to start being 'White Howard'? LOL He was out 'injured' for 1/2 the season (wink, wink...) and he still seems to be a bit rusty and unable to get into the speed of the game at times. Offense never was his game, but I have to cringe whenever I see him miss a dunk or a simple layup. I like "The Sheik" but he needs to take those oven mitts off and catch some pocket passes and take advantage of opportunities around the rim.
I think his attitude is OK. I think naturally you overachieve a little bit when you are given the starting role like he had, and you underachieve a little when you are made to feel like you aren't as good as someone else. He plays limited minutes and the coach just doesn't run plays for him any more like we would have seen him involved in last year when he was the starting C with a lot of minutes. I think he is still very useful when on court, though, and he is playing with a fine attitude. He seems a fairly reserved, sensitive guy. I hope the Rockets include him in after-hour activities and invite him along to things when they hang out or else it won't help.
I thought Asik did well today. Four points and six rebounds in ten minutes. Anyone expecting anything more than that is being unrealistic.
3 were on one play in the first half when he blew 3 layups in a row and got the rebound from 1 foot out.
You do realize that on a per-minute basis, Asik's defense was at his best when he backed up Noah back in Chicago, right? Asik's defense in both years were superior to Noah. And in both years, the Bulls avoided him like a plague on offense. Asik simply isn't playing hard right now.
Yes he was hurt, and yes he may be less motivated. But, I think a serious problem has got to be seeing Howard everday in practice. Confidence is everything in this game, and last year he was playing like a guy who thought he was a top 10 center. Now, I'm not so sure he thinks that.
I'm really not seeing it. He looks like about the same player to me, man. He's just not as good as Dwight Howard. We've got problems at the 4, not backup center. I will say, I don't like the sub pattern, pulling Howard early in the 4th then sending him back out just in time for teams to send him to the line instead of giving him open looks.
