Bottom line is that Lin is not a joke. He is no star either and I honestly don't see any star potential in him personally. Could he improve more with increased playing time and free reign on offense? Probably. Is he ever going to find that on a contending team with a wing star? Definitely not. If Lin wants free reign, he needs to go to a team desperate enough to try and reproduce Linsanity.

Also, here is another thing; Lin is a ROLE player and his role is 6th man. We want him to score and when he's drawn the defense, pass. What that means is this:

    1. Always look to score first! If you can't do that, you are pretty useless as a 6th man.
    2. Use your mid-range game. What we don't want to see is really long 2's, such as the ones you put up when your FREAKING TOE is on the line!
    3. The only time you pick up your dribble is when you are in the process of trying to score, ie layup, dunk, jump shot.
    4. Jump passes are OK as long as you have the plan of passing BEFORE you freaking jump. Doing otherwise leads to TO's that are typically fast breaks toward the other end.
    5. Pick and roll, pick and roll! Even if Asik fails on a simple dunk, it still keeps the D on their toes.

Dragic didn't have "star" potential either. Now everyone is calling him one.

Lin to me looks very much like Dragic and at the same point in their careers is probably further along developmentally.

    I am pretty disappointed.

Why won't he learn from his mistakes?

He is a SG in a PG body

Doesn't have the required handles to be a top tier PG. The customary pick up the dribble live ball turnover almost every game drives me mad. That and a low in game IQ

I hate this thread but he's been playing so poorly that I have to say...I can't believe this guy thinks he deserves more minutes. Maybe if he showed some consistency he'd have an increased role. As of now, he's actually hurting our team. Very disappointed in his play. So damn inconsistent.

This team isn't going anywhere depending on Lin playing serious minutes.

He brings very little to the game on a consistent basis and he is often making detrimental mistakes.

It's one thing to be in a slump. Shooting poorly. Not passing well. But when you are doing those things plus making costly mistakes it's not a good recipe for success.

What does Lin have to hang his hat on? If he's in a funk, not playing well, what is it that you can depend on him to bring positively to the game on a consistent basis? I can't think of anything.

I'd seriously consider playing Canaan. Lin is going to hurt us in the play offs and he's not going to have many games where he's good enough to overcome his deficiencies.
