He had one effective year and he wasn't even the top WR, Kendall Wright was and it wasn't close. It's sort of like saying Marvin Jones was a beast for Cincinnati last season.
No it's not, it's not even similar. Dez Bryant had a season where he more than doubled Gordon's entire college production.
We'll see. They had nearly identical performances as rookies, we'll see what Hopkins looks like in his second year, I think it could surprise people.
I'm sorry, no, we won't see. Hopkins is not Josh Gordon. It's a pretty crazy thing to say otherwise. The fact that they had similar rookie seasons is meaningless. Watch Gordon play and watch Hopkins play and then tell me that there's any type of real comparison. Gordon is bigger, faster and better. It's not even close. You are talking about a top 3 WR. Come on man!
I think that's pretty short sighted. Josh Gordon wasn't Josh Gordon last year and Hopkins has a MUCH better history of dominance in college. I think you are letting your knee jerk just a little bit.
Okay. You are right. Hopkins is gonna be Josh Gordon. Hell he's gonna be Calvin Johnson. Why don't we just cut AJ right now?
BG give it up. First Kareem is better than Talib and now Hopkins is better than josh Gordon ?? Rick Smith is that you?
I never said he's "going to be" and right now he's a one year wonder, I'm not sold that "being Josh Gordon" will be all that awesome. I'm saying that after an 800 yard rookie season, the sky is the limit for Hopkins. He was super dominant in college and he had a really good rookie year. It wouldn't surprise me if he was well over 1000 yards this year. What's funny is that when Hopkins was drafted, if someone said that he's going to "be Josh Gordon" we'd have seen that as a bad thing. Now he has one awesome season and he's Calvin Johnson in your mind? LOL. It's not my fault that you overrate Talib and underrate Hopkins.
I agree Hopkins is a nice young player but if Cleveland called and offered freaking Gordon for him I think you would drive Hopkins to the airport yourself.
Probably, but it could end up being a bad move. Hopkins was a beast #1 WR in college, Gordon never was. Sure Gordon is coming off of a great season, but I don't know if he'll keep that level of production up and I don't yet know what Hopkins' ceiling is.
Definitely cannot rule Hopkins out when it comes to making the jump to superstardom a la Gordon, but my point is that they are pretty different players. Gordon seems to be more of an Andre Johnson type (that actually scores touchdowns), while Hopkins is a Reggie Wayne/Anquan Boldin mold.
That's such a lame criticism of Andre Johnson and it's not like Gordon has ever had a double digit TD count. Also, I'm going to have to see more than one year before I compare someone to one of the top 5 (arguably top 3) WR's of all time.
So many holes, so few moves... It's apparent now that the top pick will be traded for additional picks. That way BOB will get youngsters to mold.
