Does anyone else get a feeling of satisfaction when you come home to your nice home and see your beautiful green lawn and your sprinklers on?

    I do.

We should make a this post a dedicated post to lawn care along with tips.

How do you guys keep your St. Augustine looking green year round?

There's a big thread around here about lawn care. It ended up turning into a organic vs 'Green Revolution' (chemical treatment) debate.

I prefer the idea of organic but it's along process.

I could use some tips on getting rid of weeds in my yard. I don't want to call anyone out to do the work, I was hoping to do it myself. I used weed and feed a couple of years ago and I didn't get the results I wanted. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes I love coming home to a yard/house that is mowed/clean, especially when you do the work. Sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. The yard is a pain in my arse though.

I'm considering going with artificial grass in my back yard. They've really made huge strides in recent years in the quality of it.

I went the "f*** it, I'll pay someone to do it for me" route. It's looking good.

For. Whatever reason my st Augustine got especially brown this winter and I'm afraid patches might not come back. I don't know what happened. I'm not sure if the squirrels tore it up by digging for acorns or what but it sucks. It was looking pretty good last year...definitely much better than the year before when we moved in. I used a weed and feed fertilizer once last summer and I used another fertilizer intended for use before winter. I also used a fungacide but nothing drastic.

I'm not sure if I should just resod it now since it's about that time or just go with it and hope it comes back

I have a lawn crew that takes good care of my yard. I will plant something every now and then but a few more bucks they will plant it for me.

I just love seeing my yard thriving. The squirrels running and playing in the trees. Really peaceful.

Just this past Friday I had Mata-Turf dig up my entire yard. I was sick of the St Augustine. It pretty much all died during the winter and it needs too much water. I went with Zoysia Palisades grass. It's supposed to be drought tolerant (yeah, we're supposed to go through another drought this Summer) grows in shade and it's low water maintenance. They did an EXCELLENT job digging up everything, re-sodding and laying down over 4 yards of mulch to my gardens. The grass is still dormant but damn I loved that rain all day Saturday for the fresh grass. Now just glad for some sunshine as I patiently wait for it to turn full green.

13 bags of yard rubbish and 7 hours of work have drained me from any positive reflection about yard work. I'm just too cheap to hand a guy $50 for something I can do myself.

It is an excuse to day drink though.

I also love the feeling of coming home to a perfectly manicured lawn/landscaping. I feel especially good knowing that I didn't have to do any of it. My crew comes every other Monday and they knock it out in less than an hour. They know all the tricks (mow high, don't bag grass, etc.) to keep my lawn looking great.

Totally worth the $50/month I pay them.

I do the weed and feed myself though. 4 times a year. And I don't over-water (a common mistake).

I am with you 100% paying to me is the best way! Saves time! I do the weed in feed myself like you.

My boss tells me that it is a stress reliever for him as well.

    Do you do it all?

    That's a lot of work!
