I agree. We needed a solid rb option with Foster coming off back surgery. $3.5 is fair. And Tate could have made Foster expendable next offseason. I don't want to spend a draft pick on a rb; we have too many other needs. Frustrating. When Tate is healthy he's one of the better backs in the nfl.

...sounds like he was hell bent on leaving Houston though.

That's it? If he can stay healthy, Browns hit a home run.

It's funny how some people will cry about the Texans cap situation and then seconds later complain that they aren't going after every FA out there. It's especially funny when they whine about Tate being gone because he wouldn't have stayed here as a backup for any amount of money.

If we are able to trade Schaub for a 5th or 6th rounder then would he still count anything against our cap?

He made it very clear he is going somewhere to start.

Tate really started to burn fan bridges at the end of the season. He was too outspoken for a guy that was mediocre. Pass.

BOB is showing Texan fans what we all thought, Rick Smith sucks at his job. So many guys are not being retained.

It's gonna be a while till I forgive our owner for retaining Rick Smith. He's not the worst GM in the nfl, but he's average at best. I'm tired of average at best.

I don't know how good Cleveland's O line is, but Tate really benefited from the ZBS and an offensive line that ran it well.

He's not going to out run anybody, he's not going to make anybody miss, and he doesn't have the vision and patience of Foster. Basically if you can open a big hole for him at the line of scrimmage and get him to the second level he might get an extra yard or two, but doesn't have enough to regularly bust big plays. I think the biggest thing he has going for him is that he is decisive and doesn't try to dance around.

If he was a bulletproof workhorse that might be something, but he's been as brittle as glass.

I don't think he will be that hard to replace, and I doubt Tate gets another contract anywhere near as big.

Wow. I'm kind of shocked at how low that deal is.

If he stays healthy and is indeed the 'Elite' RB he says he is...he's just going to hold out after the first season.

Once he gets paid, I bet the phantom injuries start adding up and he sits on the bench most of this contract. He always seemed to be injured as a Texan. It was always something.

I wonder if he'll still have the fumbling problems in the future now that he's a starting RB.

Come on, the guy played with cracked ribs...he's never had a history of having phantom injuries, he's had a history of real injuries.

Ben Tate can easily be replaced in this draft. Won't miss him.
