I don't blame him. He's old for the NBA, but retiring at 40 is very early for anyone; why not go another year or 2 playing the game you love?

But I'm betting his messy divorce is another big factor.

 

It's even more obvious here, because we're not talking about trying to get another contract. He jsut wants the money he's already been guaranteed.

Anyone saying "retire" and forfeit that guaranteed contract money is crazy.
It's not like the guy was trying to get hurt.

This is not a Royce White situation.

 

Nash is pretty greedy. He should give some of the money to me.

Agreed. If Lakers fans should be mad at someone, they should look towards Kobe.

 

He just wants to get paid what the contract owes him, no problem with that.

If I were a lakers fan, I can only be mad if Steve is just "mailing it in" and not trying that hard to rehab and come back. In that case, Steve's not holding up the end of his bargain

 

IIRC, if Nash got an "medical retirement" where a doctor certifies that he can no longer play due to injuries, he can get his guaranteed $ while the Lakers would be able to take his cap hit off their payroll. I think that deadline may have passed.

I don't ever blame a player for getting the max he can get. I only blame them if they get lazy afterwards.

I think he only gets paid for this year if he does that though. Not next year. Plus he could still play right now. They just shut him down to tank and give other guys who aren't under contract next year minutes.

No insurance company would sign him off.

 

They are roasting Nash for not retiring and saving the Lakers the money. Nothing is said about Kobe.

 

If Lebron or Kobe would've said this everyone would be going off but since it's nash it's all good. Lol I'm not mad at the man one bit, get that $$$
