Melo is not interested in either of those teams jtr. Besides that....if Melo wanted to go to Phoenix....Phoenix could trade those picks away for future picks and sign Melo outright. Once again....no trade for the Knicks here. Just not workable from any angle. He don't want to go there. IF he did want to go there he could walk there. Melo already left Denver. What makes you think he wants to go back there and what makes you think they would be a contender next year if they traded for him back? Keep looking. Here's the deal. Melo wants to win a championship. He's like 29 years old. He knows his window is closing. He's got 3-5 years left realistically to get it done. He can't sit around and wait for another year or two for a team to be built. He's gotta find a team ready to go. And the biggest deal is...Melo is a free agent. There is very little the Knicks can do here and very little trade value they can create here. The market for Melo is very small.
I'm going to add another name to this list. Marc Gasol He's a free agent in 2015. He would be a great fit here working the high post with Dwight down low. He could proabably make the adjustment of stepping out to 3 also. If we don't get our guy this summer or by the trade deadline and we go into 2015 free agency with space....we could pursue him if all the other options above are gone.
Would you list your successful predictions/analytic performance? You know after the first thousand posts it does start to make a difference.
Melo sucks. He's the most overrated player in basketball. It is ridiculous that his team is as bad as it is. That is all on him. Lebron and 4 fans could make the playoffs in this Eastern Conference...
There should be a Hell No to melo.. This is just me but i would trade jones, parsons, beverley, asik for rondo and a wing during the summer ....see how that team works out sign one of the big Fa in next years class when lin is off the books.( James,Durant) and then resign rondos bird rights. I think Les wouldnt give a **** about paying over the tax threshold. Pg:Rondo SG: Harden SF Durant/James PF: D-mo/Covington... C:Howard I dont think the NBA could ever see a lineup that good with all the players being in their prime except maybe dwight
Rondo would be perhaps the worst choice for a Rockets PG. Take the ball out of Harden's hands? Do you want to castrate Harden?
Absolutely yes, if you can clear the cap and convince him to take slightly less than max. Outstanding player and shores up alot of our weaknesses.
You of course realize that Melo in no way, fit or form fits Morey's offensive models? Not to mention the defensive goals.
No. We can simply look back on this thread in the future or any of my other posts regarding the Melo situation for that matter. If you want me to I can remind you when he walks or is sign-and-traded for 50 cents on the dollar. I did state very clearly here on this board at least a couple weeks prior to Stephen A. Smith blabber mouthing it on ESPN that the Knicks should trade Melo because he was going to walk on them. Now they're going full bore on this Phil Jackson hiring (desperation), and there's a good chance even that hiring falls apart as you see now that Melo isn't going to let that determine his free-agency.
LOL.... Its just that easy huh???? Keep dreaming folks.... All this ^ aint happenen. Melo saying he's leaving and threatening to go to X team for nothing or Houston in a S&T and then Blowing the Knicks away with a S&T offer is about the only feasible way I can ever see it making sense to get Melo to Houston.
Once again Melo is a free agent. It's about blowing Melo away with the team and the offer to compete for rings...not about blowing away the Knicks with a trade. You are way off base on this one.
I realize it doesn't fit your interpretation of Morey's philosophy. However in the real world, he would work out great here.
I tend to agree. Houston is the best situation to win now with in their prime stars and the cap space to bring him in. Clippers would have to move Griffin which ain't happening. Lakers have a rookie "maybe" star like Wiggins and a broken down Kobe. Bulls have a broken down Rose and would have to move Boozer and Gibson. Heat? Maybe if Bosh left. Brooklyn? Old old old old old old old. Dwill is the worst contract in the league. Honestly the Rockets have the best opportunity for any star like Bosh, Dirk, Melo, etc to form a big 3.
I understand that many posters have said this a lot, as the main reason why rondo wont be a good fit here. And honestly it makes 0 sense Cons of our Offense: 1.High turnovers 2.Stagnant ball movement 3.Bad post feeders (Not one plus passer, except for harden who would rather shoot) Cons of our D: 1.Bad Awareness 2.VERY bad pick and roll D 3.bad defensive rebounding Rajon Rondo can improve every single thing listed on this list by MILES... and those who were worried about his shooting, can see he has drastically improved that this year, and if traded to Houston i would like to think would improve even more next year.....Iam sorry folks as much as i love parsons he is our only big trade chip and it has to be used before we are too late
Yes and no. The Rockets can't clear enough salary to sign Melo to a max deal. But if he's leaving NY, then it's to win. And if it's to win, a slightly lesser deal isn't going to kill him. The Rockets can offer him roughly that Chicago can if they clear their cap. I don't believe Melo will actually leave NY and that 5yr/$130mil deal. But if he actually wants some sort of legacy and win title(s), then the Rockets can come with a 4yr/~$85mil deal(opt out in 3 years and wink wink handshake agreement you get the idea). Basically the Rockets just need a GS type deal to take Asik, Lin, Garcia, DMo off the books. Probably won't even need to add in more than a 1st rounder, since Asik and DMo likely have value. So everything is contingent on Melo. Not on the Rockets. If Melo says he's willing to play with the Rockets for , Morey can make it happen.
Are you willing to cut back 30 to 40% of your total take home salary in the next 5 years in order to get the corner office with a view and to move the annoying lady who crunches her chips to the other side of the building? You are completely underestimating how much money at the end of the day Melo would have to give up to sign as an unrestricted free agent and how difficult it would be for Morey to trade Lin and Asik for nothing when every GM in the league knew that Morey had 0 leverage. Of course you won't agree because.... Well you are you, but you are very wrong here. If the Rockets are going to be players for Melo this Summer, Lin and Asik S&T is the first and likely only option.
IF it could be done, I would trade Parsons + filler for Melo. He is one of the only players I would feel comfortable trading Parsons for.
