I'm not sure what some people think a washed up Sproles is going to do for a team currently on a 14-game losing streak.

It's funny to me that the people complaining about our crappy cap situation are the same people complaining about us not overpaying any FAs this offseason. How do you think we got in our crappy cap situation in the first place?

    Wilfork - hmmm...

Texans need a NT; obvious Patriots connection

    HOWEVER!

However, he is coming off achilles surgery and isn't the youngest man. Still worth looking into IMO. Probably have other, more serious suitors.

If the Texans can get him on a reasonable price (That would be huge)
I mean if he gets released he will be getting paid about 7.5 millon this year from the Patriots therefore maybe he takes a 4 Millin-5 Million contract.. we can dream

Wilfork would be great if we really intend on competing.

Not so sure about Wilfork... he's the prototypical NT in Crenell's traditional defense. But from what we've been told, he's not resigned to that style of defense. If we do bring in Wilfork it's a clear cut sign we'll be running his traditional defense... which... doesn't really fit our personnel.

I was hoping a 4-man front would get the majority of the plays and 3 down linemen would be reserved for base sets. Watt in the traditional Crennel defense... blah. Not that excited about it. As a matter of fact, if he does use Watt to occupy blockers and the defense and Watt do not look great, I think there's a valid argument you fire him after 1 year. Watt is that good and he's the piece we will rebuild around going forward. Too soon to be making any of these statements, but hypothetically...

I too am hoping for a 4-3 at least half the time. I think our personnel is better suited to it. But I don't think you pass on an opportunity to get one of the best NTs ever. He'd change our defense. My question is primary medical on Wilfork.

Broncos did well with Talib. Elway and the Broncos know how to negotiate a contract?

Everyone always describes O'Brien's prototypical QB. Smart, works hard, blah, blah, blah and is like, yeah bro, just described Bridgewater, suck on thattttt, braaaaahhhhhhh, I love me Bridgewater, braaaaahhhh.

Fitzpatrick fits the same description. So yeah, sign him.

I've been reading a ton over the last couple of weeks suggesting that Wilfork may not be able to fully come back, and that the Pats were already looking to draft a plan B guy pretty high.

The last thing the Texans need is another Ed Reed broken down old vet looking for one last payday.

    Pass.

Honestly, Fitzpatrick, if he's available, may be the best option for this team, outside of Matt Schaub.

In no way am I suggesting Schaub is our answer, or should even start. I'm simply saying Schaub is the best candidate out there to mentor a rookie in being a pro, the environment here, nuances of our players, how to handle criticism, etc.

I'd actually prefer signing Fitz to backup/mentor our rookie over Schaub. Both are basically the same player except Fitz has the edge mentally only based on book smarts. Should help his ability to soak up a brand new offense faster than Schaub, who will essentially be doing the same.

Would we sign Fitz and in turn June 1st designated cut Schaub? Not sure how that would work for the Texans, tbh.

Not really a fit for us. 1-2 down guy who's expensive and off his game lately. Unless he wasn't expensive, in that case, shiiieeet.
