So you want to "pay" Schaub 10 mil and throw a rookie to the wolves with a questionable line and a weak command of the offense? Neither are good options. I disagree, there's no motor issues at all.
Well the Texans are coming off of a 2 win season and Bridgewater and Manziel fans are every bit as ridiculous as Lin fans. There is sort of a desperation in the air, which is why so many are actively arguing against drafting the best players and deifying mediocre QB prospects.
Our starting QB broke the record for pick sixes AND we got the #1 pick. I challenge you to find a worse season. I don't post on this forum often but I feel the need to let you know you are single handedly trashing its quality. Congratulations on having an opinion..but you are king of the dip ****s on this forum
Rodger Saffold failed his physical; won't be signing with Oakland. I think the problem is that low information fans like yourself think they know a lot more than they really do. You bring up the record for consecutive games with a pick 6, but he had 14 total interceptions....is it somehow a worse throw by the QB if no one happens to stop the guy before he gets a TD? Eli threw 27 picks last year....how many of them were pick 6's? No one knows because that's not something most people track because it's largely irrelevant. If you want to see a truly bad season by a QB, look at David Carr's rookie year.
Same could be said about you. You add nothing positive to the discussion other than insults and cheeky jabs at posters. Yes he had 14 interceptions, in 8 games, with a QBR of 37. If he had played all 16 I would bet he'd have a lot more than 14. Nice job of cherry picking stats to fit your narrative. Eli had 27 picks starting all games, major difference b/t him and Schaub there. Yes, it is worse. Instead of having a chance at holding said team to a FG, or getting a turnover you hand them 6 points. It's not rocket science. Guranteed 6 points vs. alternative, do the math i think you can pull that off. Yea they don't track the stats but that doesn't mean it's irrelevant. Both QB's had a high Int ratio when starting, and as a result their teams were horrible, that seems like relevant info right there. Yeah any one would have a terrible season running for their lives on every play. Carr was doomed from the start. Schaub had a solid team around him unlike carr but still managed to **** it up. If we had average qb play last year, we could have made the playoffs with the talent we had. But both our QB's played like ****. We never had a chance.
I'm sure it COULD be said, it wouldn't be accurate, but that doesn't seem to stop many people around here. LOL, QBR? Tell me you are kidding. You didn't really just quote that BS ESPN stat did you? I'm sure he wouldn't have had more than 14, but that's not the point I was making. I'm not saying he had a good year, I'm just trying to put things in perspective and point out that the "pick 6 record" didn't really mean all that much. Also, Eli had a QB rating of 69.4 while Schaub was at 73 (or if you are curious about your BS QBR stat Eli was at 36.5 while Schaub was at 43.6). Neither QB played worth a damn last year. So "having a chance at holding said team to a FG or getting a turnover" would make it a better throw? Non sequitur. So the Giants should be picking a QB with the first pick in the draft and cutting Eli? Did you watch the Texans last year? At what point was the O line play "solid"?
It's actually quite accurate. And i'm sure most people on this board will agree with me. But your foot is too deep up your ass to realize that. So you think he wouldn't have had more than 14? Fix your sentences if you wanna debate. And why the **** do you continue to compare Schaub to Eli. Let me reiterate, comparing a player who played 16 games vs one who played 8 games before getting BENCHED is not a proper comparison. Are you dense? There is nothing Illogical about that statement. I would take a straight up int over a pick six every-time. Saying "Non-Sequitur" is not a proper rebuttal. And WTF do you mean "better throw", where did i say it was a better throw? A pick six is a WORSE throw than a normal int. Read. So did Matt Schaub win two superbowls? I must have been living under a rock all these years. Seriously how do you spew this drivel? Our defense was pathetic because our offense couldn't hold the ball and kept giving other offenses short fields Hence why we allowed such few yards, because other teams didn't have to go far to score. It doesn't take a genius to realize that this compounded by multiple games leads to a tired unmotivated defense that under performs.
Brilliant argument. Congratulations, catching a typo is by far the most intelligent thing you have brought to this conversation thus far. Because they both played equally terrible last year.... I'll go over this again in an infantry proof manner so hopefully you can do a better job of following along. I said "is it somehow a worse throw by the QB if no one happens to stop the guy before he gets a TD?" you then responded "Yes, it is worse." Maybe you don't have a strong command of the English language, but that's claiming that an interception that doesn't happen to be taken back for a TD is a better throw than one that does happen to be taken back for a TD. Ah, so now your claim is that if you happened to be on a Super Bowl winning team that terrible performances are somehow better? Can't wait to hear you expand on that one. Sure that played a part, but not being able to get ANY pressure on the QB without blitzing played a larger role. The Texans were one of the worst red zone defenses in the entire league, you can't blame that all on 14 interceptions. Or....lack of talent did that. Once Cushing went down it was JJ Watt out there by himself. No one else on that front 7 was worth a damn at all.
It feels like bizzaro world seeing Tampa Bay taking the younger, equally talented played, while New England takes the pricey "name" guy.
You wouldn't know intelligence if it hit you in the head. Yes they both did. And Matt would have been worse if he started all 16 games. Let me bold that and underline it for you. Throwing An Interception Is A Bad Play. But throwing a pick six is a much worse play. There is that better? Let that soak in for a sec i'm sure its a very hard concept to comprehend for you. Eli didn't "Happen" to be on a superbowl team. He was a superbowl MVP, and he won the giants 2 superbowls. Matt schaub has one one playoff game, against the bengals. Again I'm starting to think that foot up your ass if affecting your intelligence. These are not hard concepts to understand. But you can blame that on the fact that Teams did't have to drive the ball very far down the field to score. Any respectable NFL offense when given a short field can score at will. I'd chalk that up to both reasons. But you don't have to draft a defensive player 1st to add "talent" to a defense. A well run franchise drafts well in the later rounds and picks up talent.
Decker got 5 years $36 mill. Edlemen would get about the same I would presume. I just have it in my mind that he would be great on this team. If only we had $$$$.
That's because Bobbythegreat happened. He is the ONLY one on the whole forum that knows anything about football, don't you know. His opinion is the truth, and everyone else is wrong. As others have said, he and one or two others, who all just started posting on the Texans portion of this board this offseason, have brought the collective quality of this place down majorly. I wouldn't mind it if someone created a thread just for those few and the mods made it to where they were only allowed to post in that one thread.
