Another thing is that they were saying that about 40 cell phones were still "active" days later. Surely they whould have been sunk/destroyed in any plane crash. Its starting to sound like the show lost

If they can detect "active" cell phones, how can they not determine a general location?

It was Sunday when they first expanded the search to the Straight, so I wonder how long the Malaysian govt/military have known the plane was in that vicinity. They at least suspected it then, but only today confirm that was the last known location. There will be some interesting speculation if it turns out that the Malaysians have known it was in the Straight for some time, yet allowed SAR to continue along the flight path in the Gulf.

Wow, now the Malaysian Air Force is flip flopping and saying they didn't detect the plane changing course.
Malaysia Air Force is looking more and more incompetent by the day. All I can say is good thing they have good relationship with both the US and China.

Yet the US Navy is commending The Malaysians for their SAR efforts...

    http://sinosphere.blogs.nytimes.com...th-fleet-on-the-search-for-the-malaysian-jet/

"This is all coordinated by the Malaysian government. They coordinate both the water-space and the airspace management. I give them a lot of credit. They have done what I would call an exceptional job. It’s like a big chessboard out there. It’s really like moving chess pieces around, and that’s 3-D. You have three dimensions, you have the water-space and the airspace.

If you don’t do a good job of it, there is a very real possibility of an accident. I give a lot of credit to the Malaysian government. They have a very well-organized plan. They track all these assets coming in from all these countries, they make assignments, and they’re very efficient, very professional."

First post in the thread ended up being very prophetic.

Hopes as fishermen find life raft near PD

PORT DICKSON: A group of fishermen found a life raft bearing the word “Boarding” 10 nautical miles from Port Dickson town at 12pm yesterday.
One of the fishermen, Azman Mohamad, 40, said they found the badly damaged raft floating and immediately notified the Kuala Linggi Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in Malacca for assistance to lift the raft as it was very heavy.
"We managed to tie it to our boat as we feared it would sink due to the damages," he said.
When the MMEA boat arrived, the fishermen then handed over the raft into their custody.
However, a Kuala Linggi MMEA spokesman said the raft sunk into the sea while they were trying to bring the raft onboard.

    Lost the plane.

    Now lost the raft.

At the parking lot, on the way back, "Dude...where's my car?!"

I cant even decide if that story is to be believed or not. Could be hoax?

All of this backtracking has me thinking this was an internal computer error which wasn't caught in time. The passengers could not complain to anyone because they had no signal over the ocean during the wrong path of the flight. Is there a human pilot on every plane? If yes then was he asleep on the job?

If that's the case then I hope they get sued for millions.

Either you hate Muslims or you're an idiot for misspelling one of the most common words in English. I think it was intentional because you failed to capitalize the "M".

It felt like some posters wanted it to be done my Muslims and Terrorism reading throughout this thread. Media outlets were quick to jump to conclusions even before the Iranians became the main topic of the case. Maybe if everyone didn't waste their time trying to pin it on the first person with an Arab sounding name because of some BS propagated by the media, Bush, and others then a useful discovery would have been made.

I tried imagining what their families must be going through from the beginning and it must be terrible. I feel bad for them.

And I care what you think about some poster who has unhealthy obsessions with Disney teenies? Queue white knights.

Also, I posted here before you, noob. The website lost my password during the host transition and I never got around to making a new account.
