here's what Moses Malone had around him on the 80-81 team that he took to the NBA Championship after going 40-42 in the regular season:

Mike Dunleavy (4 yrs of experience)
    Calvin Garrett (R)
    Tom Henderson (6)
    Lee Johnson (R)
    Major Jones (1)
    Allen Leavell (1)
Calvin Murphy (10 yrs--he was 32 yrs old)
    Billy Paultz (10)
    Robert Reid (3)
    John Stroud (R)
Rudy T (10--he only played in 8 gms in the playoffs and avg 0.8 pts per gm)
    Bill Willoughby (4)

From a previous post that asked people on Clutchfans when they became a Rocket fan it looks like a majority of you are under 30 yrs of age and thus would have NO CLUE what Moses did with a team that didn't have much of anything.

Why is it that McGrady couldn't advance past the 1st rd of the playoffs with Yao, but Artest and Yao could with basically the same freakin team?

If you want to call a guy who played 13 seasons with Hou/Orl/Tor and NEVER ONCE made it out of the first rd a legend than have at it.

Are you delusional, oblivious, or trolling? Because it has to be one of those.

You realize the year before that McGrady had no Yao in the playoffs. Had a rookie Carl Landry as his second best player. And was playing with a severely hurt knee and getting cortisone shots in his shoulder so he could play a playoff series everyone knew was going to be lost. Guess he sure quit then.

Before that the supporting cast consisted of Alston, Head, Battier, Chuck Hayes.

You realize in 09 the year that tinmac thinks artest and adelman carried us to the second round (which btw is an insult to Morey and the role players who actually were the reason we did well) the players were completely different right?

    1) Yao actually played like a man who cared. Unlike against Utah when he shrank against Boozer and Okur.

    2) Aaron Brooks, Scola, Landry, Lowry were wayyyyyy better role players than anything Yao and McGrady had previously had.

    <br>
On top of that, it's ridiculous to compare an elite big man to a guard/forward. Especially in that era. A monster in the middle could carry any team. Hence why Bill Russell, Moses, Wilt, Kareem got every ring in that 20 year span.

And anyway. Speaking of illogical. A more apt comparison would be to say Moses carried a team of scrubs to the finals. Why couldn't Yao carry our team out? Since you know, they're elite big men. But either way. Comparing eras like that is silly.

Why does the blame fall solely on McGrady? Because of your clear agenda.

Stop trolling. Your lack of objectivity is disgusting.

Btw no one has said he was better than Hakeem or Lebron.

    Change your name to strawman.

I think the miracle comeback against the Spurs makes him a Rocket's legend. That and his 40 point games. But never winning a playoff series doesn't do much for his rep. I should add the 22 game win streak. TMac was one of the games best all time players, but his health problems and his laid back sometimes whiney demeanor caused him to come up short. He may get in to the HOF because he was the league's leading scorer, but I don't know.

Yao got out of the 1st rd of the playoffs and McGrady didn't.
Yao NEVER quit on the Rockets either.
The blame isn't all on McGrady but the question that OP asked is whether or not McGrady is a Rocket legend? Legends make the players around them better and they sure in the hell make it out of the 1st rd at least ONCE which we all know McGrady NEVER DID over a pretty long career!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where's the Moses Malone sitting next to Les thread ?

Oh yeah . Legends like Moses are legends . He doesn't have to sit next to anyone to prove that.

It's in his nba finals with the rockets and mvps

That team played a very young and inexperienced Portland team. That is why they advanced.
That team with Moses and Calvin barely made the playoffs that year. They got hot and the rest was history.

I'm going to re quote this to show others how badly he owned you guys.

Tiny and shark speak of things to change our minds and what they actually saw.

At the end its preference and his numbers speak for themselves.

He stepped up when he mneeded to.
I'm not a Homer fan of him either, he failed but had a serious case of bad luck.

You're right, T-Mac is as much a ROCKETS legend as Charles Barkley.
Might as well throw Pippen in there as well.
I guess Gary Payton and Karl Malone are Lakers legends too huh?

You can call me anything you want, but you can't say that
Tracy McGrady led the rockets to any playoff success or say that he didn't quit .

Tracy fans need to watch teen wolf and learn the lesson of that movie.

The only difference is that teen wolf won.

And you can throw tantrums and tirades every time there is a McGrady thread. But the fact has and always will be that he is one of the greatest Rockets players of all time and that the city cheers for him as evidenced by the fact that he sits next to Dream at home games and receives standing ovations.

    These are facts. :)
