It matters when it is insinuating that Crane can't get better elsewhere, and it ignores that Jim Crane sued Comcast/NBC for fraud as well as Drayton.

He isn't innocent, but neither are any of the other parties. People in this forum love the Astros, and want them to be successful, which means we don't want them stuck in a crappy deal.

I honestly don't think Comcast gives a **** about widespread distribution. This channel is a drop in the bucket compared to their other business ventures (which now apparently includes amusement parks!...http://www.chron.com/default/article/Comcast-challenging-Disney-s-hold-on-tourism-trade-5301566.php). And the TWC merger would only further expand their footprint to not care about satellite/uverse signing on.

I think they "like" having exclusive content that inspires people to switch to their service. They're prepared to lock in both teams to whatever crappy deal out there because of their ability to withstand losses (along with keeping all potential ad revenue if both teams decide to sell their shares).

I don't know that they don't care, entirely...but it's not nearly as big a concern for them as it is for the Rockets and the Astros. Not even close. For Comcast, it seems like just another feather in their cap with regard to enterprise value...about footprint, generally.

    With CSN distribution:

    1) No carriage deals - Comcast exclusive
    2) Crappy carriage deals - Cheaper subscriber fees for Comcast
    3) Good carriage deals - Comcast gets income from partnership

Comcast has reasons to be happy with any outcome that maintains the rights to the teams.

The bolded part is why all of you have a problem with reality....

Crane bought the Network knowing it was the high risk for a higher reward model. He's the gambler who lost big in Vegas who is now in the parking lot crying.

Weren't the Rockets going to accept the crappy deal? So they were not going to weather the storm and just lose their equity?

    You make no sense.

You have no idea what was said. You know what Jim Crane is saying.

Again.....the MFN was put in because Comcast didn't want to pay the inflated rates if no one else did. If I am at the negotiating table or even reading a contract that's in place. I ask them why they need that type of assurance. Logic and the Judge say that the Astros were never promised that the Network would even be profitable.

    ^^^

See, Granville...these posts are exactly why people are continually coming after you. You say that you only respond the way people are responding to you, but then you drop 3 posts in a row that weren't directed at you and you have derogatory things to say to each one of them. Just step back and realize that not everyone is addressing you all of the time.

I'm all for some good back-and-forth, but you take it from arguing points to attacking people.

Where did I attack anyone? And there weren't 3 in a row that weren't directed at me. Get your facts straight.

These are attacks... "You make no sense? That's some Jim Crane thinking?"

Maybe attack is a strong word, but based on a lot of your other posts I doubt if you were trying to be sincere or cordial with these remarks. I digress; I haven't had too much of an issue with your replies to me, but I can see why others have.

The first and third are my opinion and certainly not worse than all the silly Crane hater remarks thrown my way. Crane is wrong in this situation, period.

    The second is fact.

Remember, though, if you love the Astros you have a problem with reality. I guess if you hate the Astros, then you don't have a problem with reality.

I don't hate the Astros. I think the new owner is a jackass.

I noticed that most of the strongest Crane supporters are frequent contributors to the Astros forum. I'm wondering how many of you have access to Comcast these days as well.

So does your hatred of Crane affect your reality since posters who love the Astros have their reality affected?

Since I'm not in Houston any more I get the MLB package.
