Um...OK. I agree. I can tell from the pixels and from having seen quite a few pixels in my time. :)

PS4 seems to be out-of-stock at Amazon now, though it seems they'll get some more in stock on the 18th I believe. FYI, NPD numbers will be released on Thursday (every 2nd Thursday). I might throw in the Japanese numbers around that time too (don't really expect much good from that though). Thinking Sony might soon be able to meet demand (i.e., no need to wait for restock at Amazon/etc.). Right around the time of Titanfall, inFamous, Ground Zero, Watch Dogs, bundles, etc.

I actually hate upgrading / moving PCs so much that I take the "buy something way ahead of the curve and then keep it for 5 years" approach. It's much less cost-efficient than buying low- to mid-tier and then upgrading, but dang do I hate dealing with that. It is definitely expensive though.

On the other hand, it's so much easier to get games uber-cheap on PC. And I have a lot more trust in Steam as a digital distribution platform than I do in Sony, MS, or Nintendo (least of all Nintendo). I also expect their sales to stay far more impressive than any of the consoles for the foreseeable future, though I'd love to be wrong about that.

    Well, that's perfectly valid then.

I don't travel nearly so much as I used to (I took the job I'm currently in over one that paid more, because the higher-paying one would've involved tons of business travel, and I hate that crap).

So for me mobility isn't needed whatsoever. I love my beastly desktop.

It is a great feeling to take your PC apart, swap out HDDs so you can install a new SSD, and then boot up...only to realize you swapped out the wrong HDD. At least when you get everything correct, you can quickly catch up on all the new pages of "CONSOLE WARS" in Chrome when you're done.

SSD's are awesome. I put an SSD in my grandma's PC (Older HP running win 7 pro, on an intel core 2 duo) upgraded it to 6gb of ram and it ****ing flies now lol

Even though this is Titanfall specific, I don't want to put it in that thread because I'm worried about CONSOLE WARS.

Looking at some of the reviews for the game, Respawn seems to have made a great/fun game. And that's mostly what matters.

But geez, can they do a better job in the future on the technical side of things? I'd still likely recommend the game to people (I kind of helped sell it minutes before this post), but it just seems like such a mess from a technical standpoint. 792p on XBO, not very good looking (especially by "next-gen" standards), and apparently still has drops to the "single digits" (along with tearing and all that). I suppose I should wait for an analysis from DF or something, but it doesn't sound that good at all. Bordering on "inexcusable" for a game like this (I guess making a kick-ass fun game makes anything excusable, but still...).

Before anyone gets all crazy with "BUT BUT BUT BUT YOU JUST WISH YOU GOT TO PLAY SOMETHING AS AWESOME AS TITANFALL!", chill out. I get the game is fun, I'm just saying I expected a little better from Respawn in this area. Don't have to get all defensive. Hopefully for the sequel, they can spend a ton of resources on the visuals since they'll have the gameplay all figured out (more or less). Plus all those huge bags of money.

People are still going to argue with me, aren't they?

Yep, totally agree. I don't have the money to maintain a high-end gaming laptop, and anyway it's a hassle to have to keep upgrading. Way easier to buy a dedicated console.

To me 792p on xbone is quite impressive.

not saying i disagree with the anti-PC gamers. i agree with you from the perspective of ease of use and $.

however i built my computer in 12/2007 and just for fun i checked the titanfall requirements. I meet the minimum requirements needed to run the game.
but i just upgraded my video card for $170 and overclocked my CPU from 2.4 to 3.6ghz... exceeding the recommended settings.
its not that hard to maintain a rig that will last many many years.

I keep telling people... fast processors and high-dollar graphics cards are nice, but an SSD blows them all away as a quality-of-life upgrade. I couldn't possibly go back to running my OS & apps off a traditional HD. No more of this waiting for programs to start up BS.

I would take a mid-grade computer with an SSD over a high-end computer without one, any day.

I strongly considered the raptor when figuring out the components for my latest computer. It would've given me more space, and therefore I could run more apps/games off it, instead of relegating large games to a slower storage drive.

But then I look at stuff like the video below, and I'm happy I went with an SSD. As fast as the raptor is, I just don't think it could replicate the snappiness with which an SSD launches apps.

(for those who don't want to bother watching the video: it shows an SSD booting Windows 7 Ultimate in 44 seconds, the raptor does it in 78 seconds)

Sony did a great job of marketing the PS4 along with MS screwing up the Xbox One. Word of mouth really did a number on this. It started with the DRM.

Most of my co-workers, friends, who aren't gamers at all say "I heard PS4 was better than Xbox One"

You cannot beat that type of influence if you are Sony, and it's going to be extremely difficult for Microsoft to change people's perceptions now.

Microsoft could spend millions on advertisements and bundles, but it doesn't compare to the positive momentum Sony has right now with the PS4.

Even tho currently is PS4 is 1st place, Wii U is 2nd place, xbone is last place, things might turn around you never know. Remember last gen xbox 360 started 1st place and ended up last place.

Eh, not really. If more PS3s were sold, it was by a very slim margin, and the 360 sold more games (again not a huge difference, but bigger than the hardware differential). PS3-360 was a wash.

PS4 owners are starting to wonder "yes, we have the more powerful system....but MS has all the buzz." With MS updating the system at a record pace (the 360 didn't get 2 big updates this fast and another coming in April) and the game everyone is talking about landing on the Xbox One, there is some buyer's remorse for some.
The PS4 will sell but the Xbox One all in one strategy may win at the end. We will see.

The Xbox 360-PS3 sold almost the exact same number. It took the PS3 up until last fall to catch the 360. The reason the PS3 caught the 360 was because of the Blu-Ray player. Sony would bundle that thing with a TV left and right. It was also bought by people would never play a game....because of it was a quality Blu-Ray player. Hell, my in-laws bought a Sony HT system with a TV and the PS3 was thrown in for free (They never played a video game).

I used to think that as well, but when I made the switch to an SSD it was life changing.

    Jeez

Fanboyism is one thing, but do you have to post such cringe inducing things ?

It really ruins my enjoyment of your usual brand loyalty rants.
