Explain to me what does a "pro style" system mean in college. Why do they call it that...???

Because you and OMR pump that big time for Teddy so explain what it means to the rest of the class...

He's not going to be bend around the edge type of rusher, he'd be a beat the tackle off the line to where he looks entirely unblocked or simply throw him out of the way type of rusher. Also, god help them if he ever fully refines his technique.

Easy...he calls protections, audibles, hot routes, etc. at the line, he reads the full field with his progressions, he takes snaps from shotgun and under center, displays a full range of dropbacks, boots, etc., throws to multiple levels of the field. He did all that in college. If you want to dispute that, you'll be preaching to a deaf choir.

Don't get me wrong. I like Clowney and would not be upset if he were the top pick. IMO, there will be an OLB/ILB that will drop to the second.
I am betting someone like Kyle Van NOy , J. Attaouchu, Ryan Shazier.

I'm sure there will be some guys who drop to the second but nowhere near the same talent level. Clowney is the Andrew Luck/Calvin Johnson/Julius Peppers/Peyton Manning of this draft. Most drafts don't even have a player of that caliber, in fact, the one's I named were the only players like that in the last 20 years.

Blake did the same thing and so did others. The "MAIN" thing about quarterbacks playing in a "pro style" system in college is taking snaps from under center and turning their backs to the defense (play action) and being able to turn around and read the defense quickly.

EndWorld posted a vid of Teddy taking a snap in the pistol formation and than he bragged about him playing in a pro style offense so that's why I specifically asked him the question and not you.

Bortles played in a watered down style of offense, he wasn't required to do nearly half of what Bridgewater had to do.

A pro style offense isn't formations, its concepts

Pistol formation is used in the pro style offense, shotgun of course.

If I needed one to play and win NOW in the NFL, Teddy B

Winston has excellent physical tools though and Jimbo's offense is demanding enough to were Winston will be required to do a lot mentally.

Its possible by his redshirt junior year he will be at Bridgewater's level mental and still have the raw physical traits: size, arm strength (I think Bridgewater will surprise in the arm strength department)

There is another name people are forgetting.

Christian Hackenberg, BOB coached him at PSU and that boy looks GOOD

I think he actually may be a more advanced qb than Winston

Winston looked very average in the bcs championship game....really his first true test of the year

...and after that post-game interview, a lot of people questioned his brain

If he had thrown 7 tds he would still look average in your eyes.

He stepped up his 4th qtr game that was for sure, still needs work. He is a Redshirt freshman, that is to be expected.

Did you question Terry Bradshaw's brain after his post-game interviews???

    Yep.

This is a major concern. Clowney is an athletic freak, but he is VERY stiff.

    He cannot bend his hips.

He will rely on his straight line speed and power (lol 21 reps), thus will be exposed against NFL level tackles.

Additionally, he has a TON of character red flags ranging from bad work ethic, entourage, gives up when things aren't going his way...

The pistol is STILL a college style formation designed to put the quarterback in a college style position. The quarterback is still in position to do read option and far enough from the line of scrimmage to read the defense quickly without having to back up. So regardless of what the rest of the players on offense do, unless that quarterback turns his back to the defense he's still in a college style position. The fact that the pros are using the pistol just shows the influence college is having on the NFL. And most if not all of the vids of Teddy's big plays you show are of Teddy in the Pistol So the "pro style" argument goes out the window. And with all the short passes he makes I'm not impressed just because he can make checks at the line (which other quarterbacks can do in this draft as well).

Just the same as long as it's not a gimmick offense like Carr is in it's really no big deal as long as the quarterback is capable of learning. So the "pro style" argument is over blown. People made a big deal about Christian Ponder being a pro style quarterback when he was in the draft.

Sigh, separate formations from offensive concepts

The pistol is a fusion of the under center line up and shot gun line up

It has nothing to do with offensive concepts

Majority of offenses in the NFL are built short passing game, name one other qb thats makes checks at the line???? ( not Bortles I can tell you that)

Christian Ponder was in the Bama style of pro offense.

Very rudimentary and was built off of one-two reads and a checkdown with little lee way at the LOS

Its what all those USC qbs ran

Blake does make checks at the line and has complete control of the offense. So does Jimmy G to a certain extent. I just gave you two...

My point remains the same about the pistol and Teddy's dink and dunk offense.

Teddy runs heavy bootleg out of his pro sets (snaps from under center) which means he only makes one or two reads because he's working only one side of the field. Same thing.

Majority of the time he is dropping back reading the entire field...

Brady is dink and dunk, has that stopped him from winning 3 rings??

    Manning is dink and dunk

    Ryan is as well

Majority of high level NFL qbs have dink and dunk in their arsenal
