300 rise of an empire 7.135800 / 10 Went in expecting it to be a 2 or 3 but it exceeded my expectations albeit low ones..... not as good as the first 300 which I give an 8 or 8.5 depending on my blood lust that day. Still a good entertaining movie. Will buy on blu ray
Inside Llewyn Davis 9/10 - The most bittersweet Coen Brothers film I've seen since Raising Arizona, but less overt. Thor: The Dark World 4/10 - I can usually enjoy superhero films for what they are, but this one was just way too bland.
Prince Avalanche 6.5 out of 10 I was entertained the entire movie but I didn't really get it and I couldn't even explain what it was about. The ending was strange but I dig Paul Rudd so it was ight.
The Monuments Men 6 out of 10. The story wasn't terribly bad and the set design, cinematography and feel of the movie was just about right. Its just for the cast it has, the potential story they could have told and the buzz I heard early, it was a disappointment. Rent it when it gets to $1.
I loved this flick! Wes Anderson is coming up soon. We've already got tickets for The Grand Budapest Hotel for next weekend. Can't wait, and will give my rating sometime Saturday night. I'll be surprised if it isn't a 9/10.
Side effects, not great overall, but very watchable & completely worth it even if for just one scene. There will be blood, so intense, and the music/sound adds so much more of an edge to it, you normally don't get those kind of atmosphere sound effects with super straight forward movies like this, set in the early 1900's. Almost pushes it into horror/suspense genre. Great actors all around too. The latest star trek movie, into darkness, must see. One of my favorite all time star trek movies, up there with IV for different reasons. Almost like one of the recent prime time sci-soap feel, really dramatic & heavy handed. And i actually loved everything the (few) critics were getting mad about- trying to redo the old, with new. Either choose one or the other they want, but I disagree, it worked for me all around. Dallas buyer's club.... This is why I just prefer either recommend or not systems, like how (I THINK) rottentomatoes works, where all the +/-'s are averaged out to a score. They have never steered me wrong on a false positive for all the years with how I apply my filter to their ratings, until finally once, this week (dallas buyers club). First time after hundreds of movies I've ever been let down with a 90/90+ both critic & audience rating. Cliche after cliche, stereotypes, cross-armed opposite comedy just wore me out. Not enough story, not enough of anything. Seems like everyone's REALLY impressed by how much weight he lost for this role though. That's considered such a huge acting accomplishment, losing some weight. Pair that with lots of gay & aids, you get instant ART glorification. I can't recommend it at all though.
I really liked Inside Llewyn Davis also. As much as wolf on Wall Street was worth watching I will take the former over the latter every single time.
Every movie I've seen her in with the exception being Casino Royale she shows dem big ole tittays.......which to say the least is a plus in my book. They got extended screen time in 300
Prisoners, 5.912/10. I guess I'm one of the few that did not like it. It felt like I had seen it before and from the hype I was expecting to get my mind blown over and over.
Mama - 4/10 Kind of forced and really had no direction. The lil girl crawling around like a possessed monkey was far scarier than the mama ghost.
3 days to kill..... 3/10. Ridiculously clichéd movie that can only star someone as cheesy Costner. Amber Heard looked very hot though, too bad she wasn't on screen as much.
