That actually is pretty funny lol Alot of people i know wont watch it because of the length but I never feel bored or feel like it drags even though its upwards of 4 hours. It is in my top 10 for sure and I've seen it probably 4 or 5 times. Glad to find a fan of a good foreign movie that so many people wont give a chance.
Das Boot was also a great movie to show off your home theater's sound system. The scene where the sub is very deep and the pressure starts popping bolts... the first time people see/hear he movie they start ducking.
The Hunt (Danish movie) - 8.5/10 available on Netflix <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/9Umv4CyxTdg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Son of God - 7.5 out of 10. This movie had a lot of potential. I think they should have placed more focus on Jesus' speeches and miracles, maybe follow a similar story line as the Gospel of John. There was too much background information that I thought was unnecessary. Still worth seeing though.
Makes sense... unlike movie critics that have to go to lots of movies, good and bad, we get to choose what movies we go to, most of which we know something about, and most times, we have a good feel whether we like them or not. On occasion, you get a clunker though...
300: Rise of an Empire -- 6.5/10 Decent movie. About what you'd expect; blood and lots of it. Not near as good as the first, but it's not like we were expecting it to be. I might give it a 7/10 because Eva Green has a nice rack of boob.
Fruitvale Station - 5/10 It was really well acted and everything, but a lot of it was pretty unbelievable, and it was trying a little too hard to convince me that white people are the devil. Nebraska - 7.5/10 An all around good movie, one of the best of the year for sure.
Inside Llewyn Davis- movie was pretty chill. Nice soundtrack. I enjoyed looking at 1960's Greenwich Village in NYC and the subways that seemed to have never changed even in present day. There were no likable characters in the film other than the cat.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - 6/10 It got great reviews, but I didn't think it was anything more than dull filler to advance the story to the next installment. That all said, the execution was very good. It was the substance that lacked. Very overtly leaves you hanging for Mockingjay Part 1. I don't like it when the close of a movie is basically "watch the next one".
Movies might tend to embellish things a bit, but FS was based off a true story, right? I thought CF (lol) was way better than the first installment. I can understand the thought process of leaving it hanging, for the third movie. But how else could they have ended it? I mean, if you made it through THG and THG:CF, chances are, you're going to finish the trilogy.
The first one had a freshness that CF lacked, but CF was clearly better executed. Maybe it's just me, but I want a legit close after watching something for 2 1/2 hours. CF finished with nothing but loose ends and that burns me.
