This is a BS thread, you're right. The same old argument over and over how T Jones and Dmo suck. I'm really happy with their play and hopefully they will continue to improve as the season goes on.

DaDakota had it right in his post when he said nobody cares what you think Basketballholic. I might have cared what you said the first few times, but to go on, and on, and on, and on about it is to much. Everybody knows you don't like the Rockets pf's and don't think they can win with them, that is clear.

Thank god for some perspective. He's younger than Parsons was as a rookie. He's already good and can continue to grow for three or four more years. I didn't think he'd be an NBA player and I'm glad to be wrong. Hope he continues to work hard cause haters gonna hate.

This was a BS thread when it was first posted. I find it hilarious that people post to influence fan opinion. No one can post and influence coaching or FO opinion. I view threads like this as marketing campaigns, attempting to shape opinion to the posters view point. Small minded people crying in the dark saying "Notice me - I am great". LOL. Pathetic.

What perspective? This discussion is about what is going to happen this season. What's going to happen in the future is a different discussion.

He would fit right in a corporate marketing department. He fits the MO perfectly.

see, good things happen when TJ's shot falls!

Pacers cut it to 3 before he dropped that 3 bomb.

My point of contention in this thread was the fact that posters were saying we didn't have time to develop our young players. Thunder, spurs, pacers, and even the heat can develop their young players, but we're in win now and can't. My beef with us not taking Gay in 06 was not I thought he would be a great player, but more in terms of a young talent developing. With a team like houston who has a lot of youth in their core, development is vital. Jones and D-mo have unique talent and are so young and cheap. Winning a ring won't hinge on their play. Winning a ring will depend on how well parsons, howard, and harden performs. If howard is forcing doubles, harden is slashing and making plays, and parson is doing his versitility thing, all bev, jones and crew has to do is supplement. If and when they have an above avg game, the rockets are impossible to beat. Much like when horry, smith ,cassell, and max had above avg games, rockets were hard to beat.

Well if I said or implied we shouldn't develop our young talent I probably misspoke. To me it's not a question of developing talent. I think we've got one of the best systems to develop young talent in the NBA. I'd put our player development right up there with OKC's. The dilemma is do you give up developing young talent for a substantial upgrade to the team. I think we do at this point. Because Morey has proven very adept at finding young talent. He has proven very good at developing undrafted players and second rounders and getting better value out of those guys than most GMs get out of their first round picks.

But I do want to be clear...I'm not for giving away young talent for mediocre players on long-term deals. So, I'm okay with the fact that we did not move either Jones nor DMo. Because I know the right deal wasn't there.

As for winning not hinging on Jones' and DMo's play. I agree. Winning hinges on the big 3's play along with Bev, Lin, and Asik in secondary roles.

However...losing is a different matter. If we do get beat in the playoffs/finals it will most likely be because a team exploited our play at the 4 spot.

Yes...when TJ's jump shot falls we are a much, much better team.

Could you imagine if we got even a remote contribution from Jones/Dmo today? PF was our downfall today if POR hangs on

This is why I say the 4 spot can be our downfall but not put us over the top. It almost undid us today. But we finally got the lineup on the floor that I expect to see close games for us in the playoffs and Finals if we make it there.

It depends on who we play. Jones/Dmo have played well against other contenders. Just terrible today though.

This is going to keep happening in the playoffs in the West and against whomever we meet in the Finals if we get there.

DMo actually looks ok defensively tonight. Jones has not been good defensively. He has cleaned up some glass from the Dwight overplay.

But once again, neither guy can shoot. And now when we're playing a top-notch playoff style defense they both struggle. Even Jones finishes down low...he's missing. Too much good defense down there negates probably his only strength.
