Rockets have beaten Miami and Indiana with Hamilton so I'm not going to make a fuss. Hamilton is a sharp player but he doesn't set a tone and could go missing in the playoffs. Maybe in the first game he'll do well but the second, third ... teams could just run over him. It would suck if McHale and Morey has to throw out an underdeveloped Casspi out there.

Wait, the OP only like him as a bench player... when did Chandler lose his starting spot?

    Hamilton, Casspi or Garcia

Come playoffs, whoever is feeling it will see the court. What's not to like?

nah Hamilton is fine. If Lin can play like he did before and Asik gets in better game shape, with the addition of Hamilton the second unit is going to be a force to reckoned with.

his defense is pretty solid. He has contributed a couple of sports center worthy blocks at the rim since he has been a Rocket. His shooting is a bit streaky. Not a great ball handler and sometimes looks a little lost on the offensive end, but I'm guessing thats due to his lack of time with the team. I think he has bee a really good addition to the team.

I don't know. Playoffs are different players get grabbed more and get held more. Fouls can be arbitrary (Bulls, Shaq's Lakers). I don't know outside of Harden and Howard how the team will react.

I've only seen him pass up 1 open 3. Amazing that passing up 1 open 3 would cause a thread like this. He's filling up the stat line in a way Garcia obviously did not so he's a very nice pickup for us. You seem... rather reactionary to say the least.

I love Hamilton's scoring mentality and his defense. I think moving Casspi and Garcia out of the rotation is part of the reason we're on a roll right now.

U know who else does that..... Terrance jones but he is getting better at looking for his shot and I think Jordan is still finding his place but the kid has upside.

!The sad thing is Hamilton has a lable of "Chunker" & now he is passing up open shots.

He is very coachable so all is well.

And you know this because he's had such a lonnnnnng time to find his place on this team. Surely after 2 or 3 practices and a half dozen games, a lower-rotation guy should be able to come off the bench and immediately set a tone!!!

I agree with OP a bit, Hammy does lose the ball often when he try to handle it. From that, been a amazing pick up for us.

I think mchale means by tone is who wins their matchup and who decides how the matchup is played. It has nothing to do with practice. Hamilton is a sharp player but he doesn't set a tone.

And a lot of that is based on knowing exactly where your teammates are and what they're doing at any moment. NBA defense isn't strictly an individual thing.

I stand by my assertion that you can't possibly know how Hamilton is going to fit in with this team after only 6 games and a couple of practices. That's absurd. Hamilton's already had more of a defensive impact that Casspi or Garcia has had this year.

Well first of all, Ham for the first time, is on a team where his minutes are actually important for the team + the team is one of the contenders so ANY minutes played and EVERY game is crucial for po seeding.

He obviously will need some time to figure out what to do and what not. Considering him being totally new to the rotation, the system and environment, I think he really is meshing well and had a good start.

His attributes will help us so much more than AB could ever do (barring any injury to our guard rotation), so I have no question in mind about him and am happy that we got him so cheap.

Want to add, about the second unit it will go as far as Lin will take em in the rs, but ppl seem to forget that in the po's we won't see any lineups of 5 bench guys unless there is a blowout situation. It will be at LEAST 2 starters in imo, in most situations even 3 and if you think it this way we can replace nearly ANY position without a major drop (some positions switch roles like if Harden goes out the PG position overtakes most of his scoring/creating duties)

So in this picture Ham replacing Parsons during the po's will be so much better than having to rely on Garc(i)asspi. Give the guy some time and you will enjoy what you see ;)

P.S.: ofc Lin has to proove, that the positive signs from this Pacers game are no fluke.

I would include skills as being sharp.
