I believe its because the guys are trained to pass the ball to the open man (even if he is offensively disabled). Its part of being a good team-mate, it leads to good shot selection and you want that concept to be a habit throughout the team which means you have to be consistent with it... not divert from it because one guy who sucks at offense keeps getting open.. that will break the instinctive habit of doing it. Because Asik is so poor at offense he is left open more, thus he gets the ball more. That is all.
That was clearly a designed play... Look at how seamlessly Parsons made the skip pass with his face! I think he's trying out for FC Barcelona....
What I don't get is... what in the hell was running through Omer's mind at that point? Parsons was clearly doing down, so you're going to pass him the ball while he's on the floor? Talk about a brain fart.
