The way it happened... Do you mean the way Paul George got 2 steals, and then Houston went on a 17-4 run including 5points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists from Harden, and 0 points for George?
He thinks perimeter defense has a similar value to offense, when the value difference closer to 3 or 4 to 1. The center spot is the only position where defensive worth is comparable to offense and it could very well be more valuable there. There's also a fairly good case that the coach and system is worth more than individual defenders on the wings, since for example Chicago hasn't missed a beat replacing Deng with Dunleavy.
Houstunna fighting a losing battle if I've ever seen one. Keep fighting, sir! It's giving us some great comedy to watch unfold!
It's so much fun to go through and read the comments on this thread. The term "jumping the gun" was made just for this thread.
When Harden brings the effort on both sides of the court, this whole "Harden vs. George" thing wouldn't be a discussion. Recently Harden has been playing harder, with consistent effort on both sides of court during recent run and you see the results. Harden is a more skilled player than George and when he brings the effort on a consistent basis, Harden is unquestionably better than George. George is the better athlete but still has a lot of refining he needs to do to his game.
It's not as cut and dry as tonight made it seem..george has been lethargic, slumping and the Pacers have lost 3 straight. It's flip flopped from 2 months ago. These kinds of players really have to prove themselves in the playoffs as reg season has ebbs and flows.
If only there were some sort of way to determine how well a player had played throughout the season. Maybe someone should keep track of what a player does in each game, and somehow use this information to compare how well players are doing.
Despite his recent shooting slump by PG I still think there's real star potential there..... But there's levels to this ****..
George is a better "athlete" but Harden is the better "basketball player." His basketball IQ is higher and he does make the game easier for his teammates when he's on the floor. I think George is a good young player with plenty of upside but I believe he's only as good as the team around him and Indiana is a very good "TEAM" and an excellent young coach. We've seen Harden produce when he was on the court with other star players and we've also seen him carry a team where he was the only star to the playoffs in the Western conference as a 1st year starter. But we've only seen George be good when the rest of his "TEAM" is playing good (and David West is a beast). George isn't better than Harden even when Harden isn't giving all out effort on both sides of the ball (which might have to do with injuries and his body build because he's a big body guy for a 2 guard and the Rockets run a lot). Because you probably couldn't put George in the situation that Harden was put in and expect the same results. This should be a Parsons vs George debate.
