I have seen Jordan and Bird and Shaq and Moses... LeBron and Olajuwon... Garnett and Barkley... Magic and Paul.... And I still think McGrady is one of the 3-4 most gifted athletes I have seen in 30 years in the NBA... Really only LeBron, Shaq, Jordan and Olajuwon are in that class physically. At one point McGrady had the fastest 1st step in the NBA, 40 inch vertical, great body control, huge but soft hands, great court vision, very long, wide and wire strong... Could cover 4's with his size... Even had a lazy eye to boot... Just lazy, soft and injuries did him in. Really underrated, very good defender when he wanted and would have won led the right team to a title.. Very good in the playoffs. Should still be playing, just foolish and lazy.
The quitting is so overhyped. People need to look up what that actually means. Did Yao quit on us? He is a Rockets legend. We don't have a ton. But he is one of them.
**** that lazy eyed quitter. 13 in 33 was awesome, and then there was a whole lot of bull****. I still remember the way he quit like a b****. I ain't forgetting any time soon. Yao deseved better.
After watching that video, I can honestly say a Prime Healthy Tracy Mcgrady is better than a Prime James Harden...
Yao never quit man. He has his flaws but he always played hard for the Rockets. TMac on the other hand: http://www.clutchcity.net/news/1545/the_day_t-mac_lost_houston/
Think Paul George but more gifted offensively. Tracy was a defensive stalwart in Toronto. In Orlando & Houston, at his best, there was no better offensive machine (passing/scoring). He was 2nd best to Nash in passing & his scoring was at will. His one achilles heel was endurance. He couldn't do it for a playoff series.
I think you mean "the rest of the team was complete trash in the playoffs, while McGrady far exceeded his season averages."
I think t Mac is defiantly a legend and I will never understand how he didn't get passed the first round. I remember the jazz series he was putting up 40+ plus points every game. Not to mention the rigged NBA refs worst underrated officiating I've seen. T-Mac was one of those guys who could match Kobe or get on Kobe's level. I defiantly think he's a horror nba story. He had major potential and never had the right teammates or luck. I mean it helps to have Scottie it helps to have shaq it helps up have wade n bosh. Not thT Yao wasent good but always hurt and wasent brutally strong and agressive.
Some of you guys need to let things go.. Yeah he made his mistakes but anytime I see someone in a #1 jersey for the Rockets it just feels wrong like they don't have the right. T-mac at the very least should be known as a Rockets legend he won a lot here with us, just not during the playoffs.
All I know is that he got us out of those bad days of stevie franchise and Cat Mobley era. He brought winning basketball to Houston and he actually chose Houston over everybody else in the NBA. I will always support T-MAC as a Rockets legend. It's too bad that he had injuries.
