Yes. He was better on both sides of the ball, maybe if he was more flashy and his team won him some championships you'd realize that. However, you not realizing that, doesn't change anything.

None of them were particularly likable. Kobe simply didn't have the talent that guy like Lebron and MJ have/had. I get that you are some kind of die-hard Kobe Bryant fan, but no objective fan would even consider him in the conversation with Lebron or MJ....or if they did, they'd quickly realize that he didn't belong in that conversation.

Not sure why this is a debate. Jordan is the GOAT. Lebron will be in the top five when he's done. Kobe is top ten (6-10) depending how much you love "the mamba". MJ transcended the game and Lebron is doing the same. Kobe was trying to emulate something we've seen, and that can be extremely polarizing, which he is. The Kobe lovers need to get over it and not worry about Lebron because KD might bump Kobe even lower.

KD's already bumped Lebron. KD's the best player in the league currently, and when it's all said and done will finish ahead of LBJ. Both are talented, but LBJ leans on his big 3. KD's doesnt need a big 3, neither did Kobe.

Again, you're saying John Stockton is a better player than Kobe Bryant??? John Stockton???? Lmao. This comment actually says more about you than it does Kobe lol. Stop it dude

This hatred of Kobe has officially risen to new levels now. It's anybody's right to personally dislike a player. But don't act unbias when it's clearly obvious thru your poorly disguised post that your hatred for Kobe affects how you view him as a basketball player. Ya'll think he's a azzhole, just admit it. I just don't think your qualified to have a basketball discussion under those circumstances

it seems bobbythegreat's inability to evaluate talent is universal, applies to football and basketball ;)

Yes, I'm saying John Stockton was a better player than Kobe Bryant because he was a better player on BOTH sides of the ball. Again, if you weren't a die-hard Kobe fan, you'd probably realize that. I HATED Stockton when he was in the league, but he's one of the greatest PG's of all time...he'll there's a very solid argument that he was THE greatest true PG of all time because Magic was really more than just a PG.

So Lebron is going to end up top five but you still think Kobe is better? So Kobe is in your top five all time? Definitely a Kobe Stan.

Any GM would take Lebron over Kobe and that's been the case for a while. Check GM surveys on NBA.com. Thankfully you're not an NBA GM.

lol i cant believe people are saying stockton>kobe. come on, the hate is absurd.

kobe was much more dominant as a #1 than stockton could ever dream to be.

Let's see, one is the all time leader in steals and assists and is arguably the best ever true PG in the history of the league, the other is a cheap imitation of Micheal Jordan....

No, it's not a joke at all.

Yeah...except for the very first post in the thread that shows how much more LBJ has accomplished than Kobe. LBJ has better efficiency, better pts, better rebs, and more MVPs than Kobe has his entire career. The only thing Kobe has on him is rings, and considering 3 of those came as Shaq's sidekick and one of those came with him averaging 40% FG, only a true Kobe die hard fan like you will say he's better than LBJ.

That's a point I've used in my debates as well. MJ did things no one had ever seen and revolutionized the game. Kobe played the same position, had similar athleticism and work ethic. So naturally the comparisons were there. But I never saw Kobe do something and thought, "Wow, MJ never did that". And no I didn't forget the 80pt game. Now that's not terribly fair to Kobe because he had a damn near impossible task of living up to MJ. I'd also put Kobe in the 6-10 range. Of course by position he's much closer to the top.

Now Labron, well, yikes. Like I said before he's a freak athlete. No one that big and strong should be that fast. He has a serious skill set to back it up as well. I don't see the assassin mentality that I saw in MJ and Kobe, but he's delivering. I think he has a legit shot at being #2 GOAT. I just can't see him passing MJ unless he wins six or more. Even then it will be argued endlessly.

And a quick note for some of you youngsters that never saw MJ play. Go watch a few of his games. Just pick a few at random and watch the entire thing. I had the pleasure of watching pretty much his entire career. Same for Kobe, so far the same for Labron. And I just can't put Kobe up there with Michael. I don't know many my age or older than would.

I'll add that MJ almost single handedly saved the popularity of the NBA and brought it to never before seen heights. I don't think it's ever been more popular than when he was at his peak (how does it relate now? I don't have the data). Also consider the marketing Nike did. It was truly revolutionary.

Clearly I'm biased to MJ because I started watching basketball after I caught a clip of a dunk of his at UNC but I know I'm not the only one who holds this opinion.

cheap imitation of jordan? excuse me? jordan never could pull off some of the **** kobe has pulled on on the court. kobe was much more of an EXPLOSIVE scorer than jordan.

jordan was consistantly great but kobe can fade away from 3 ft behind the 3pt line with 2 defenders draped all over him.

im sorry bro...but kobe is not just a cheap imitation of jordan. and even if he is, he still had greater impact on the court than a john stockton did.

LOL, Kobe fans....SMH. I'm guessing you were too young to watch much of either Jordan or Stockton play. What Kobe did was flashier, but in no way as good as either MJ or even Stockton.

Yeah dude, it's pointless because the Kobe Stan's are some of the most passionate fans I've seen. Majority of them are young so I understand their love. I grew up with MJ and I was in love, but now that I see KD and Lebron, especially Lebron, I see that transcending player again. Kobe has too many blemishes on his resume, plus he's quite the drama queen. I get tired of the MJ comparisons. Good for Kobe, he emulated the GOAT, but not quite. Last time I checked, other players actually loved MJ and wanted to play with him. He was the Godfather of the league and he made others better around him (don't bring up the Kerr thing, isolated incident and means nothing). He didn't run stars out of town just because they weren't compatible to his personality (Rodman). Kobe is one of the greats, but his polarizing personality has effected his legacy.

Stockton is arguably the most overrated player in the history of the league. Unlike Kobe, you can't win a championship if he's your best player, and he got owned by basically every good point guard he faced in the playoffs, whether Payton, Terrell Brandon, Kevin Johnson. He played a long time, but so did Kobe, and he was never dominant the way Kobe was or in the conversation for best player in the league like Kobe was.
