Good luck stopping my motorcycle, dicks.

Also when was the last time our fat ass mayor went for a walk? Mix in a salad, Jesus Christ.

They need to do this where it is actually needed-- lower income neighborhoods. That's where it is needed.. Not no freaking upscale rich neighborhoods.

Westheimer sucks. The road is like what I imagine roads in Pakistan are like.

Low income neighborhoods would see it as a persecution by the Man, and have no enthusiasm to participate. Looks to my like a PR disaster.

You could put a festival in the street in a low-income neighborhood. People would walk a lot, have fun, drive no cars, and no one would notice that their ordinary access to driving was curtailed.

They did this last year in San Diego and will do it again this year. About 10,000 people or so participated. It actually brought out all different types of people. Some people that hadn't ridden their bikes in years, serious cyclists, cycling advocates, families, whites, blacks, purples, etc. Some people were on skateboards or pulling their kids in wagons, etc. Fun event and good for the surrounding communities. It seemed pretty well planned and didn't cause any big traffic clusterfux or anything.

But I've gotten so used to traveling by car... I've forgotten how to drive.

So I guess this is this worthless city administration's way of dealing with the fact that the streets of Mogadishu are in better shape than ours?

Close the streets to cars - potholes become irrelevant!

Yeah!!! Why are they having people walk through nice areas? That's nuts. I'm sure if they moved a location to Sunnyside they'd have people lined up to participate in this.

Or ride their bikes there. Or walk. Or use public transportation.

the purpose of the program is to encourage people to exercise. if it got you out there to walk then the program actually works.
