You guys are making my brain hurt...quit it! :(

    Ugh...OK...let's get this over with.

Gears and Halo are not examples of what you guys are suggesting. If anything, they are examples of why this WON'T happen. MS funded and bought the rights to publish the Gears franchise while it was still in development (or even prior). Essentially, Epic had a good idea for a game, pitched it MS, and once they got funding, they started making the game. Without MS, Gears would never have been made (well, *maybe* another publisher would have picked it up, but you get the idea). Similar story for Halo.

This is obviously NOT the case for Titanfall. EA is playing the role MS had in those cases. Additionally, at this point, Titanfall is pretty much a guaranteed hit (and possibly even a profitable IP by the time such a deal could be struck). On top of that, Respawn is using a lot of tech to help make the game cross-platform, which would kind of be a waste to ditch/not fully utilize. Etc.

For what you guys are suggesting, MS would have to invent a time machine and make the deal with Respawn a few years ago, not EA. It still isn't perfect, but Mass Effect might be a better example, and we saw what happened with that franchise.

And no offense, but if you don't even realize that Sony OWNS Naughty Dog (and has for almost 15 years), I'm not sure I'd really value your predictions on what might happen here (though this would explain why you can't see the differences between Halo/Gears/etc. and Titanfall). Needless to say, Sony isn't paying ND anything to keep them exclusive, and there's no amount MS could pay ND to have them make a non-Sony exclusive (well...MS could open up a new studio and lure ND talent away, but I doubt that's what you meant). All the Naughty Dog IPs are owned by Sony.

You are right that Sony is not paying to keep MGS exclusive. They probably did with MGS4, though they likely didn't have to pay a lot. Kojima probably expected Sony to trounce MS (yet again), and he made his game too difficult to port to the 360. It probably could have been done, but the game sold well enough and Sony probably helped pay Konami enough to forget about porting the game. Needless to say, Kojima and Konami would not make these same mistakes again (hence the new Fox engine), and I doubt the same amount of money from Sony could justify keeping their games exclusive to Sony platforms.

Again, not so saying this couldn't happen. MS certainly does have enough money to pull of a move if they so desire. But there are no examples (to my knowledge) that are like this from the past, and if anything, I can find only counter-examples. You kind of have to ask yourself...why MS hasn't done this with CoD? Or BF? Or GTA? Etc. After all, there are SO MANY EXAMPLES of MS doing this before. Or maybe not. Quite frankly, if MS DOES make such a deal for TF, I might even be more worried about the platform in general. That would be a pretty desperate move (and likely a waste of money...unless you work at EA/Respawn). That money would likely be better spent reducing the cost of the system and/or funding development of several new games (yes, the money involved to keep TF exclusive could also be used to fund 3-5 AAA big budget exclusives...which MS publishes/develops internally).

So it made no sense because a guy wore a tiger mask...? By extension, Street Fighter sucks because it has Vega and a guy who looks like some sort of green troll. :p

Though I'm not as into fighters as I used to be, I definitely enjoy Tekken. I think it's been accepted as the king of 3-dimensional fighters for practically forever.

Now, if we're talking specific games... yes, I think Street Fighter x Tekken sucked, really badly. They did a poor job of translating the Tekken characters into 2D space, and they added so many new-player-friendly mechanics that the learning curve was almost a flat line. I was so excited for it... pre-ordered the special edition and everything... but I traded it in after like a week. Thankfully it was still worth $30 in trade.

Guerrilla Games have responded to their 1080p-gate:

I think Sony/GG deserve some flak for the way they marketed this. But I can't help but nerd out while learning about this technique. It sounds really interesting, and it seems decently effective for a first try. With a little more optimization and improvement, I'm curious to see how well this technique will compare to "normal" 1080p (it already looks near identical in certain situations).

Haha, I thought (and did) the same.

I was a bit harsh with that earlier comment. This thread has made RC Cola a bitter man.

Just being honest I'd rather see Gambino, but I like Pusha T a lot.

That is a very smart move by MS. Don't know how much of an impact it will have (depends on how limited it is). But it shouldn't cost them much (free Forza could even generate some good revenue), while increasing the value of the system.

Yea but it's Forza. Gran Turismo's mentally deficient cousin.

It's like givin someone a copy of Kingdom of Amalur when they wanted Dark Souls

Haha true (wonderful comparison). But it does add value to the system. Whether that value means much to many individuals is another story.
