Everyone just looks at the box score, but he changes so many shots, plays stout defense, and sets the best screens in the game. If Asik had Dwight's hands / finishing ability, we would have the two best centers in the game.
Aside from Lin, who has inexplicably turned into Raymond Felton, the bench is playing pretty well. Once Lin breaks out of his slump - which, looking at the upcoming schedule, needs to be soon - the Rockets bench stacks up well with other contenders.
You lost me at Casspi's per 36 vs Parson's argument...Casspi's often asked to play power forward or gets his ass backed down to the bucket. Parson is usually out in the perim defending. Also, Dmo is W E A K. Please spare me the rant about that. You don't have to defend the undefendable right away. Digest the problem over the next couple of weeks.
Well, since I have digested the problem already for the entire season my opinion will probably not change. I could go over your points one by one, but your dependance of anything other than your own opinion immediately damns each and every one of them. You are depending on nothing but your lying eyes and your emotional response. You are obviously just looking at the games (if you even watch them) instead of seriously watching basketball and all of its intricacies. You have not even given a single hint of any understanding the game in your posts.
Totally agree. Whatever the bench is doing out there is not acceptable.. It is time for McHale to have a sit down with those guys and give them a kick in the butt. Maybe that will wake them up because they all can play much better.
After I calmed my nerves a bit, I had to relent to the fact that Asik is in the game to set screens, rebound, and play defense. For the most part, he is doing those things albeit he is a bit out of shape and isn't quite yet back to his old form. The problem here is undoubtedly that Lin's play has fallen off a cliff. He is supposed to be the guy off the bench that creates opportunities for the other less talented offensive players and he just isn't getting the job done. He is on the floor with a starter quality center, oftentimes Parsons, and some other decent pieces yet the offense is stagnant and possessions are ending in forced shots or turnovers too frequently. I said in another thread that you take Lin out and replace him with Harden and suddenly Harden, Hamilton, Parsons, D. Mo and Asik doesn't seem like such a bad unit.
The offense has been trash but their defense has been great. You guys want to know why we have been playing such good ball as of late even with all these crazy T.Os and bad offensive performances? Asik. The second Dwight leaves the game he doesn't let the D drop off for a second and even does a better job protecting the rim sometimes. I called Morey out on it, but it seems he valued Asik's presence the right way. That kind of around the clock rim protection is what brings us to contender status. All we need is consistent bench play now that TJ has been shooting the rocket better again.
TRY OUT CANNON AND NOT LIN PL-ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
wasn't it our bench that got us back in the game in the first half? our bench isn't good. but just sayin.
I think McHale needs to mix them in with the starters and never have all 5 bench guys on the floor at once. DD
At this point, it's way past time that Canaan get more minutes. NOW is the time we need to experiment with various bench lineups. Let's get Canaan and Daniels some meaningful action. At least get Canaan enough action to be able to compare him to Lin statistically. Canaan had maybe 2 possession tonight and on one of them he made a beautiful pass to TJ running towards the hoop for an easy layup. Sadly, this is about the extent of his playing time.
we should give garcia another chance. I mean, he did play big for us down the stretch last year towards the playoffs. let's give him another go and see if he can get hot again.
