I happened to catch this today on ESPN when it was live and couldn't believe this guy was putting forth this kind of effort for the interview... especially considering he was there as a representative of a company.
wow props to Linda for at least making it somewhat entertaining... Sometimes I wish I never had to listen to some of my favorite athletes... Griffey played with so much energy and to see him so boring and rude totally alters my perception of him.
Obviously the steroids and amphetamines and growth hormones and painkillers took a toll on his neurons and dendrites and synapses.
Completely agree. I actually felt this way about Griffey when he went to Cincinnati. As soon as he put on that Reds uniform, the smile went away, the backwards hat went away, and he looked miserable. It was like when Ricky Vaughn started dating that blonde in Major League II.
He was a lazy player that didn't work hard at his craft. He and Larkin and Berkman and Sosa were the names always mentioned as lazy and not hard workers when I worked for the teams years ago. Later heard that he slept through meetings with the White Sox and carried himself with no pride.. Guys in locker room had no appreciation for his greatness because he didn't have an ounce of pride.
Honestly, my respect for her just went up. That's a really difficult thing to do, when your subject is just being a turd but you're live on air. Sheesh. Estimation of Jr. is unaffected somehow. Always had this view of him. Good find, Clutch.
Looks to me like he was struggling with the delay in her asking and him hearing the question and that he really didn't want to be doing it. DD
reminds me of the interviews they would throw at the contestants on ESPN's Dream Job when they were trying to find anchors. This is exactly what they had to handle...only the good ones did it well like Linda.
