I disagree that the writing in True detective is better than GOT. The dialouge in GOT is 10x better, the story telling is better and the entertainment value is better. True detectives has one interesting story and that is McConaughey's character, everything else to me seems bland but that's after I just got done watching episode 2.

Anyone else bothered by Woody Harrelson's acting? It seems like he's always chewing on something is it tobacco? I don't know man I hope it gets better, like I said I've only seen past episode 2 and his character doesn't interest me much.

the world disagrees with you. Focus, and come back when you finish episode 7.

    both shows are excellent.

You've watched two episodes and we know you're a GOT fan boi. I'm the opposite. I thought GOT was too over the top so I quit it but might try again on my next 10 hour flight, but to me True Detective is just outstanding.

Making a firm opinion on a show after only watching two episodes is silly.

I'm not saying there weren't clues left, but I think some of the stuff is so outlandish he was like WTF?

Errol was mowing the lawn in the spiral pattern.

I'm thinking that he's just passed the point where people are throwing piles of money at him to be the lead in romantic comedies.

As a huge ASOIAF fan, I think its pretty obvious that the writing in TD is superior (it is only 8 episodes). What you are talking about is pretty subjective though, so everyone is entitled to their own opinion. What you've seen + this upcoming season is the pinnacle of entertainment for ASOIAF. Ask anybody about the series of events in A Feast For Crows and Dance With Dragons about how "exciting and entertaining it is." It is boring and is what kind of turned me off about GRRM. The story those novels cover is so stretched and overdone that it makes it hard to defend it. Most of the events happen in the 3rd book, which is why they split it up into 2 seasons and get as much out of it as they can before having to dive into the turd that follows.

Also, fantasy is much easier to immerse yourself in while a show like this has to be done EXTREMELY well in order to stand out this much. Example? I thought this was going to be dumb before I started since I'm not a big mystery/detective series fan. So far it has blown me away.

He actually made a calculated effort to remove himself from those roles. Turned down big money for small roles, like Killer Joe. Had to rebuild his image.

That's just Woody being Woody. I also think that it is integral to the character, as he is always annoyed and/or stressed... he's not an inherently happy man, and this helps convey it.

Crazily enough, the usage of spirals as symbols by criminals is real.

Also, "The Yellow King Theory" is worth watching. Spoilers obviously.

Correct, he wasn't past that point. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and Failure to Launch made huge money respectively speaking.

He teamed up with the man who gave him his first short, Houstonian Richard Linklater on "Bernie," which got him on track for more serious roles. He just wanted to grow as an actor, and challenge himself.

If I watch this - is it going to ruin the last episode for me?

It really makes you wonder how you could've missed something so obvious. After watching that video, I don't know if I would even bother watching the last episode. I mean seriously... the whole time!!!???

You're fine. I didn't find it very funny -- turned it off 30 secs in.

It was a stupid mock of the show. I made it through 33 seconds then yawned.

If you turned it off 30 seconds in... you might have missed the point.
