We also have the guys to physically hurt other teams (accidentally, of course) and not feel bad about it.
And Elite teams, at that. Most guys would be like, 'Oh, I hurt LeBron'... Dwight is just like... whatever.
Consider this though: Wade drove on the baseline and went up and lost control of the ball and came back down on the other side and hit he a jumper -- the shot clock was reset and it shouldnt have - that basket should not have counted for 2 reasons - 24 second shot clock violation or traveling - but neither was called. On the next play James got out of a trap and drove baseline on Asik and he step on the line out of bounds right in front of the refs (and him stepping on the line wasnt like a toe or heel it was half his foot) and that reverse layup counted. Thats 4 points that was gifted to the Heat on "our home court" -- and this isnt taking into account the fouls but fouls are subjective, but those two plays were not. The Rockets in theory should have been up by 5 at half and won this game by more than 7. Either way a big win -- back to backs shouldn't be an excuse for the Heat -- every team plays back to backs and Wade did not play the night before so he was fully rested. Also James was still playing against the Bobcats late in the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach in an effort to have a huge scoring night -- that is solely on him and his coaches. He cant use it as an excuse the Heat were up by 14+ in that fourth quarter - it wasn't like it was a 1-2 possession game down the stretch. Their bench is much better than ours - they have a HOF player coming off the bench in Allen, a very capable and good backup C in Anderson, and versatile role players who have been starters elsewhere in Beasley and Haslem. You expect the Heat bench to outperform the benches of most NBA teams. And it doesnt help that Beasley had a season high last night but its not a huge deal because the Rockets starters then dominated the Heat starters and come playoffs its how your starters play that generally will win a series (the bench guys may win a game or two though)
If Lebron does make that 3, that impacts everything that happened afterward. Things don't necessarily play out the same way.
Superb post. An official Blade Runner pat on the back coming your way (not that you need it!). The Heat had the officials in their back pocket the entire game. Anyone who didn't notice that either didn't see the contest, or were paying more attention to their beverage than the game. I know I lost count of the number of times after a call, or non-call, that I yelled, "You have got to be kidding me!" at the refs. I don't usually highlight an entire post that long, Yoyo, but the post deserved it. That we won with the refs favoring the defending champs as much as they did was a bloody miracle.
it wasn't terrible in the sense he had to get it across half court before the 8 second rule came in to play, that is why he tried the pass to Dwight, harden was locked up people are making to much of a fuss about it, we won get over it
Thanks for owning that dumb ass hater on his post, making excuses that Heat played on a b2b, like they are the only team that plays on a B2B. SMH
B2B don't matter, these are supreme athletes and they should be able to back up games, we were just too good, enjoy the win, don't find excuses for the other team
Good points. Perhaps I have become victim to homerism in that I though our bench was/should be a team plus. Asik - Best backup 5 in the game? Lin - Minus his recent slump, above average for a backup 1 Hamilton - at least average, perhaps a shade above Allen - Certainly a luxury we do not have. Agreed Anderson - Slightly above Haslam - Below average, this year anyway Beasley - I dont think last night was characteristic of his usual contributions While I agree I would expect the Heat bench to outperform the benches of most NBA teams, I somehow though we were not "most NBA teams" in this respect.
And how often is it the case where the opponents best player put up 61 points the previous night? I am not trying to take away from the win. I am trying to measure where this team is against the level of competition you will see in the latter rounds of the playoffs. Enjoy the win? Certainly. Become content that we are ready to compete consistently at the highest levels? Jury still out, IMO.
Now just imagine if your a relatively young NBA fan who watches ESPN all day everday. You'd see why these fans think Lebron's the greatest to ever touch the court. That's all you see on ESPN
Cant believe we won WOW Heat had to of been tired especially the way Lebron played second half. Lebron scored 61 the night before and then right after that they had to fly straight to Houston and i think their flight was delayed due to the bad weather and even Lebron admitted he slept most of the day yesterday before hand
back to back does matter, there are stats to back this up. hell if you are a betting man, a good tip is to look for teams playing on back to back. Flying across the country plays a roll too. im not saying this is why they lost but you are kidding yourself if you think b2b does not matter
Slept all day... still tired. *sniffle* Excuses are fun. The Heat never had the lead for the entire game.
