Lin and Asik are not motivated to show their A-game. They showed no effort and looked disinterested. No surprise.
Jeez, you have a minor point. Why not be happy we won for a few hours? Next time we play Miami we could easily lose and our bench could outscore theirs. Would you be happier? Or claim we need better starters and that is a problem?
I agree with this. DMo has still a lot to learn and this was probably a game in which his experience was not enough to deal with the issues. Casspi has much more experience against this level of teams and plays better with Lin. He is also way better 3pt shooter than DMo.
I'm about ready to pronounce the time of death on Motiejunas' career as a Rocket. His defense is bad to non-existent. He's stiff as a board. He panics in the post. He can't hit from range. I honestly can't find a redeeming factor in his game. Not one. Greg Smith, where art thou?
That's why I'd say a deeper bench should be our goal. Then if we happen to find someone in a position of losing their star for nothing (Howard 2012, Harden, etc), then work up a trade package to upgrade a starter. But I think a deeper bench will give you better results than a 3 star and a bunch of sign-ons IMO.
The biggest reason is DMO guarding Beasley. That's a no-no on paper. And a no-no on the court. And a no-no right in front of our eye after Beasley just beast through DMO like butter. It's like a center guarding a guard. Should have put someone else in to D up on Beasley (Casspi or Graci or whoever).
D-Mo will continue to get minutes because Jones refuses to show up consistently. Jones cant rebound either. If Jones had one of his no-show games last night we lose by 15. We could really use a veteran bruiser on the roster.
the bench is weak run around lost on offense and no defense. bad coaching , almost lost the game at the end with a mishap can't get the ball in bound lol.
I was at the game last night, and I kept thinking to myself that he looks like his confidence is broken. Like someone killed his dog earlier in the day.. Passing up open shots/Passive Ball Handling/Not attacking Basket/Walking around with his head down during Time Outs.....I mean, even a couple of his open 3 pt attempts were waaaaaay off. We need better from our primary 6th man, especially in big games like this one.
it was a moment of clarity as i was on a 27 hour road trip to San Franciso when i realized that this world is full of cool people and blockers. Blockers are those that sit in the left lane going the speed limit knowing full well that everyone behind them wants to pass but they take pleasure in making others frustrated, they are those that move into the left lane right when you are about to pass them for the same pleasure, they are those that get angry when someone flashes thier high beams or honks at them even though they are knowingly blocking others. The epiphany came when i realized that blockers are the same as the people in this world that live in, soak up, and exude negativity and pessimism. Bravo RedRedemption for overlooking everything positive and focusing on the minutia that did not make us lose the game.
I think you are overreacting. Donatus has had some good games the last couple months-- which was especially important in the games Jones was struggling. No doubt, DMo looked bad on defense last night, but I think that was largely due to him guarding Beasley on the perimeter, and that is just a terrible match up for Donatus (a center guarding a small forward on the perimeter). I agree that Casspi should have been on Beasley last night, but you have to appreciate how well the Rockets rebound with Donatus in the game. I think we just have two young power forwards who are both fairly inconsistent. In my opinion (barring strange matchups like Beasley) they are both better than Casspi. Donatus has a future in the NBA. He is not a world beater, and he is inconsistent, but it isn't like he is Hasheem Thabeet out there. Nail on the head my friend. However, I was going to blast McHale for this last night, but, after thinking about it and watching the game, I realized the Rockets were doing a good job of controlling the boards with DMo out there, and that they may not have with Casspi. I still think Casspi should have been out there guarding Beasley, but it mitigated my criticism of the decision to the point I didn't post it. So, yes, I completely agree with you that this is why DMo looked so bad on defense and is one of the main reasons the Heat bench killed us -- but, I think the decision to keep DMo out there, while probably wrong, is at least defensible.
you know, it is so funny how many of the Jeremy Lin fanatic internet trolls we have are so pro Christian (your sig). They love Jeremy Lin out of religious fervor it seems, but then come on these boards and act so un-Christ like. What does your bible say about nay-sayers again?
Maybe it would have been a better idea to play DMo at the center and Casspi in the wing. Casspi is more or less equal rebounder as DMo. They both are less good than Asik, but Asik appears to have lost his interest in the game. Playing with Hamilton and Lin, but neither hitting their 3-pointers should have brought Casspi tp the game. It was close to cost the game, but it didn't. So let's take this as a lesson to the playoffs. After all that is what really counts.
The problem is, our 2nd unit has no ball moment. We need someone to move that damn ball. I swear our plays with the 2nd unit is, pass around the 3 point line till Asik come and sets a pick and we just kick it back out the 3 point line for a random miss or make. It's annoying.
It has been said that DMo has the best team defense of anybody on our squad. Apparently he knows our scheme better than anyone... but I'd agree he's been bad individually. Lin also sucked last night, tis all
Well, let's face it - their bench is packed with ring chasers... Ray Allen - One of the best players in the league just 3-4 seasons ago. Beasley - no 2 overall From our bench we have late first rounders to undrafted (Scrubs?)
