Lin, Motiejunas, and Asik need seriously need to find their balls. We need a training montage or something so we can fix this up.
It happens. Look at Heat's bench. Michael Beasley, Ray Allen, Norris Cole, Chris Anderson. That's a legit bench, and they'll have nights like this. Our bench is Omer Asik, D-Mo, Hamilton and Lin. Outside of Lin, none of them can create their own shots and Lin is in a terrible slump.
Eh, Beasley scored 24 in 28 minutes. Four of the Heat bench players played over 20 minutes; none of the Rockets bench players reached 20 minutes. McHale doesn't trust our bench for good reason - and it's more of a defensive issue than an offensive one.
RR good thread, needs to be addressed. Clutch made a good point in the GT. Lin is supposed to be the 6th man, bench leader. His weak demeanor isn't helping lead the 2nd unit. He isn't running and gunning the offense like the starters. It feels like a different team.
Look D-Mo and Jones are second year players. A week ago motiejunas was playing amazingly while jones looked like a scrub. These sort of consistency problems will happen. He'll snap out of it and start contributing again sooner rather than later. He doesn't have confidence problems. So he will be fine. Hamilton had an off game tonight as well. He's been contributing lately so it'll be okay. The rockets bench isn't as bad as they showed out tonight. Between D-Mo, Asik, Hamilton they will provide enough in the playoffs. Lin is just what he is. He's not really in a "slump" in my opinion. He's just not very good at all. They'll need to figure something out about that because I'm pretty sure he'll fold even more in the playoffs.
Would love to see this. Tired of waiting for Jeremy to play himself out of this slump. Put Daniels or Canaan and give them the green light to shoot. I'll take my chances with their 3s over Jeremy launching near airballs or dribbling off his own feet.
Beasley had 24 but still had 28mins so he was on the floor way more than our bench, he just had a solid game, watch the game before u blame the bench
For the record, playing the bench less minutes is not really an option. Rockets are already 28th in the league in bench minutes. And yeah, they're 25th in bench points. I sometimes wonder if things would be better if Garcia hadn't aged 15 years this offseason. Because that guy was great for us last year.
I think there is more going on with Lin's back than we've been told. Also not sold yet that Hamilton is the answer as a bench wing.
Most team's starters play over 75% of the game, a great bench is nice, but it is not necessary to win in the playoffs, they just have to hold the line - if the starters are better. DD
just mix 2nd unit with starter and rotate the minutes. e.g. let Dwight stay in to start 2nd and play with Lin, play Asik with Harden. Just something the coach needs to figure out. Mchale follows a certain routine too often.
The stat line may have showed 7 points, but what it didn't show was ZERO assists. The second unit in general was not playing well but in times like these we need Lin to help out. Those that watched the game saw a poor performance but it's nothing to overreact to.
Well yea... their starters didn't have that great of a game tonight so the bench played extended minutes
heat's bench have championship experience n u cant coach that. either theyre just get it or itll take time to get there
Those pointing to Lin's stats not being that terrible don't factor how terribly he runs the offense off the bench. Seems like he can't drive by anyone. He dribbles into the paints, picks up ball and then kicks it back out to a guarded player.
