That's fine, you can keep touting him as the next Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, but don't be offended when I pay attention to scouts and analysts instead. By all means though, you and the rest of the Texans fans who are desperate for a QB who talk Teddy Bridgewater up as the next great QB might be right and everyone else might be wrong, stranger things have happened but don't be too upset when it doesn't happen.
Bill Belichick Tom Brady B.B. as a coach T.B. as a QB Bill O'Brien Teddy Bridgewater B.B. as a coach T.B. as a QB
Well, it's mindless trolling, but I guess I should just be impressed that you managed to use "you're" rather than "your".
There have been worse qbs picked WAYYYYYY higher than they should've and their franchises turned out alright. You're more likely to find a top level defender in the later rounds than you are a qb. He's not garbage, there was a point when those "scouts and analysts" that you like, had him higher than clowney. Some probably still do. Just please stop acting like this will be the worst move ever picking him. He's not Andrew luck, but nobody is. He had everything.
There was a point where Geno Smith was seen as the best QB in the draft...as the draft process goes on, people come to their senses. I think when we look back on this draft in 5 years, we'll be happy that we dodged the Christian Ponder bullet by not wasting the pick on Teddy Bridgewater.
Please don't compare him to geno. He's better and it's not even close. Geno had all kinds of weaknesses an red flags, plus he came from a spread offense. Pretty much the only thing people have against teddy is his size. And yeah id prefer him bigger but he's not Doug flutie. Please never compare teddy to geno.
Phil Simms thinks differently. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...th_over_any_qb_in_this_years_draft_class.html Everyone has an opinion. But I think the only red flag on why Geno fell was because of his height. It's rare when small quarterbacks get drafted high. Mike Vick, Tim Couch, Alex Smith, RG3 and two of those guys had ridiculous 40 times and the other two being drafted high was just ridiculous. And Geno had the strength of schedule working against him as well. Those two things alone could keep Teddy from being drafted highly despite his accomplishments on the field.
Geno Smith supposedly had possibly the most disastrous combine interviews ever. He was apparently aloof and extremely disinterested. He also had a stretch of games his senior year with horrible accuracy, sort of like Manziel's broken thumb games, but without any discernible cause. West Virginia lost 5 games in a row, and dropped from #5 in the nation to completely unranked. A few were total blowouts - scores on the order of 50-14.
at the end of the day you have to watch the film and formulate your own opinion. most of these analysts just parrot what their sources tell them.. the same sources that feed insiders such as LZ, brugler, middlekauf, etc... too much agenda to buy into what they are selling.
Winner, winner chicken dinner. I listen to people I semi trust who sound like they've watched at least some film and I use that to balance what I see myself. In the end I trust my own eyes more than anything else.
The media is notorious for getting a wrong temperature on QB stock. If ESPN/NFLN really had a handle on what teams thought then Brady Quinn, Aaron Rodgers, Geno Smith, Matt Barkley and Colt McCoy would have been top 5-10 picks.
People look for different things when they watch tape and may hold different aspects of a quarterback's field performance at different values. That's why you find different people with different opinions. And O'Brien may have specific things he looks for as far as field performance and the conditions the quarterback is playing under.
Very true. For me... I think the most important aspects of a modern NFL QB is: 1) Pocket Presence 2) Making checks at the line 3) Clutch factor (3rd downs, late game situations, etc..) 4) Being able to make something out of nothing 5) Leadership Naturally, you can see why I am a Teddy Bridgewater fan.
Shameless plug. Ready for Teddy or Down With the Clown? (aka me stumping for Teddy on BRB) http://www.battleredblog.com/2014/3/4/5470362/ready-for-teddy-or-down-with-the-clown
