I had hoped for some explanation of all the stuff regarding Woody's daughter. The drawings/man in the mask. Configuring the doll in a sexual position with the five men around. The spiral drawing on the wall. Possible prostitution with the two boys. Etc

But now I don't see there being any.

Yup, but I don't think who we saw this episode is the Yellow King. That bombshell is still to come I think.

I'm certain it will all come together.

I noticed the trailer for next week's episode advertised it as the season finale, not the series finale. Have they announced a season two for the show yet?

I'm pretty sure I read in this thread that this is a continuing series it's just next season will be a new cast with a new story. Next weeks episode should wrap up this storyline.

There is a season two and the actors have already been picked for the roles, it just hasn't been announced yet.

Last night was most excellent. There are still so many loose ends though and I'm not sure how they're gonna tie them all up in one hour next week. I'm gonna have to re-watch last nights again, just so much to take in. That VHS tape was sickening and eerie as hell.

How many loose ends do we still have? Seems like a lot to tie up in 1 hour. That guy in the cell that killed himself - why? The two black detectives - in on it or working the case?

I doubt they tie them all up - probably just hit the main storyline and end with Rust completing the circle of life.

To me it seems like Cohle is apparently planing to make this right and die, and Marty's scene (and later Cohle's scene) with Maggie seems to imply that that Hart has similar plans or at least knows what's at stake. I saw it as him doing it because he finally realized that he has a debt to pay, and you could see it in his eyes when Cohle told him that; he wanted to finish what they had started to have something really meaningful in his life again. Coming into the case with fresh eyes showed him that with everything that was so messed up, Cohle's evidence didn't seem all that crazy to him anymore

Also, the 2012 parts show Marty and Rust have totally hit rock bottom as they scramble around the Bayou weaseling out any information they can. They're doing exactly what they did in 95 in this episode, but now both have already witnessed the systematic cruelty and corruption involved and neither has a ****ing reason to care about personal redemption as they have nothing worth redeeming.

Kinda pissed I watched the preview for the finale. It looked to me that Cohle was tied to a cot in crucifixion pose, even wearing the same clothing. Remember...

"Death is not the end" - Cohle.

Tons of stars and spirals in the Maggie household by the way. I'm kind of confused on why she went to visit Cohle at the bar, but this still pic was nice. This was right as is saw her walking through the door.

After watching True Detective I'm finally on board with Matthew McC.! He is a superior actor. Very surprised how good he really is.

I was extremely happy when he won best actor for Dallas Buyers Club last night, well deserved.

I saw that too but checked again in slo-mo. I did not see the tattoo that he had on his right arm.

Good catch if so. I'll be watching this episode again tonight, although I have to admit some parts of this episode were pure cheese. It didn't feel like episodes 1-5.

This might be nothing or even a red herring, but what was the color of the ex-wife's blouse when she visited Rust?

    Yellow.

She wears a floral print shirt over it, left unbuttoned, but the yellow blouse is quite visible.

    Again, maybe nothing?
