Is El Nino and global warming no longer valid?

Seems, it's getting hotter and colder.

    Didn't you get the memo?

We can't say 'global warming' any more, because, well duh, it's not actually getting hotter like their computers promised it would. Now we have to call it 'climate change', because that way, no matter what the weather does, we can blame Americans!

Global Warming implies retaining more energy within the system (spaceship Earth) rather than radiating it out into space. At higher energy levels you have greater potential for energy exchanges causing more dramatic weather.

    ...TX...

MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH A SHORT WAVE IN THE SOUTHERN STREAM WILL
PRODUCE THE POTENTIAL FOR AN AREA OF FREEZING RAIN ACROSS A
PORTION OF EAST CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST TX TOWARDS LA...MAINLY
OVERNIGHT MON INTO TUES MORNING. THERE WAS FAIRLY GOOD MODEL
AGREEMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE OVERALL SETUP...SO THE FORECAST WAS
BASED ON A BLEND OF THE ECMWF... GFS AND NAM. THE SHORT WAVE WILL
INTERACT WITH MOISTURE TRANSPORTED INTO A COLD WEDGE... AS
BOUNDARY LAYER TEMPS WILL BE NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING. THE BULK OF
THIS MOISTURE WILL BE FAIRLY LIGHT BUT WPC KEPT A LOW PROB OF .25
INCH AMOUNTS JUST NORTH OF THE AUS/SAT AREA.

At this point, I think we are more likely to see a major event than an underwhelming one, at least here in Austin.

The bullseye in Texas is just north of downtown Austin. HPC puts the chances of getting > .10 inches of ice in Austin at 40-50%.

As much as I would like that and wish it happened, it isn't happening tonight. We may get lucky and see some graupel. The air up at the 850mb level is in the 50s believe it or not! This is a freezing rain/sleet event. This might end up being a pretty significant ice storm if the trends continue as I am seeing right now.

    Lol. Wow.

I'm near 290 and the beltway. Was watching television when I heard thunder rumbling.

Freezing cold and we're about to get something big. Lots of lightening and thunder inside the poop and the radar is already showing a lot of heavy sleet or freezing rain close to Katy coming this way.

I hope anyone thinking about getting on the roads thinks otherwise. The roads are going to get treacherous.
