How exactly has he proven he doesn't belong? Lol. You're saying that like the kid has had a lot of playing time for the Rockets. And with how garbage Lin has been, I'm all for giving the rook a chance. Not like Canaan can do any worse than Lin, right about now.

Yes we have to start playing Canaan. No question about it. I've been a Lin fan, but the dude sucks right now. He's trash. A waste of minutes. Anything Canaan does positive would be an upgrade. Just giving the ball up and being a spot up shooter would be better than what Lin does.

McHale should be willing to think about it. Imagine last year if instead of starting Greg freaking Smith we gave more playing time to TJones and DMo. We couldn't have possibly done worse in the series with them getting time.

    Isaiah Canaan

I think throwing canaan into the fire is a great idea because he's shown that he can nail the three ball. since lin is on a cold stretch, I think it would be good to get canaan more minutes.

Really? Why are people pointing to the beginning of the season as a point of play that Lin must sustain? Just a month ago Lin was the catalyst of our 8 game winning streak starting with beating SA and DAL with no Harden, then threw in a trip dub performance in that winning streak as well. He is just in a funk, mentally. Canaan has not shown anything during scrub mins it won't be fair to expect him to play well this close to the post season.

Not sure what has been going on with him, I thought he might've turned a corner when Harden was out but a couple games with Harden back in and he reverted to his passive playing style again. It's frustrating but we know he can play a lot better. Stick with Lin.

ITA. I think yes, and it has very little to do with Lin's recent performance. Potentially getting your first meaningful NBA minutes in the playoffs seems like an awful idea.

Just watching Magic announcers mentioning how Houston going to be a real threat come Wednesday with the big man (center) , dangerous shooting guard and that "guy from Florida". They say they just need a great legit pg and they could come out of the West to challenge Miami or Indiana .

Give Lin a few more games.. if he doesn't turn it around give Cannan a quick tryout for a few games.. make a decision.

This is where we miss AB.

AB could shoot from anywhere and under pressure.

People tend to forget how big he was for us during the Portland series and just a few seasons ago.

Who is talking about Canaan in the playoffs? OP is discussing playing Canaan some minutes in regular season games as a way to prepare Canaan for minutes in the playoffs IF Lin hurts more than helps.

DarkRock is probably a LOF who didn't comprehend the OP's message.

Giving Canaan minutes and cutting Lin's minutes are not mutually exclusive.

Maybe he was deflowered by some groupie after the triple-double and has been ridden with guilt ever since.

Lin fans should know better than anyone that a guy can come out of nowhere and prove himself if given the opportunity. Heck Bev came out of nowhere too.

Giving Canaan some minutes is not akin to exiling Lin to the end of the bench. Likewise, keeping Lin in the rotation does not mean we are going to crash and burn with him if his woes continue.

from the few games in preseason?????????? ru for real? you are going to base if a player should play based on a few games from preseason???

i am not saying he has proven himself but to say he has proved he does not belong is ridicoulous! he may not get that chance until next year but in no way can you say he has proven he does not belong, he has not gotten the opp to show that yet

but based on how lin is playing I think they should be for the time being. Lin is not cutting it right now bc I think he is aplayer whose psyche is hurt quickly and that reflects on his performance. I think trade rumors and no team wanting to take him on hurt his psyche, and he needs some time to regroup. Cannan cannot hurt us any worse than lin at this point
