I thought Bruce Dern was great and it would be fantastic too see him win an Oscar after waiting 50 years just too get nominated. But those are my unbiased picks and I thought June Squibb totally stole every scene she was in.
Top 10 of 2013 1. Inside Llewyn Davis 2. Nebraska 3. Mud 4. The Wolf of Wall Street 5. Dallas Buyers Club 6. 12 Years a Slave 7. Blue Jasmine 8. American Hustle 9. Gravity 10. Rush
Watch Matthew McConaughey's speech from the Independent Spirit Awards tonight. Actually...don't watch it. It was boring as hell, but... They let him ramble about nothing for SIX full minutes. Pure self-indulgent nonsense. Gonna be hilarious when he gets played off the stage after a minute when he wins the Oscar
I don't know how Philomena doesn't make your list. I have it at the top of mine but I haven't seen Mud, Blue Jasmine or Rush. Dallas Buyer's Club was be 2nd. 12 years a slave is really overrated. If it wasn't based on a true story then it wouldn't have been nearly this successful. Nothing happens in the movie.
Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but I've never understood when people say things like "nothing happens in the movie", especially when it's universally considered one of the best of the year. 12 Years a Slave is an adaptation of a book that describes what happened throughout a period of this dudes life. Pretty obvious you just missed the boat rather than "nothing happening" in the movie.
And if DiCaprio wins for Best Actor, he has this guy to thank (he said he watched this video over and over in preparing for the Wolf of Wall Street): <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/TWmjWtK7Vd4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I watched Wolf of Wall and DBC today. I thought DBC was a better movie, and Matt and Leto's performances were both Oscar worthy.
The Wolf of Wall Street was ****ing awesome. It was funnier than most comedies I've seen lately. Dallas Buyer's Club was excellent. American Hustle sucked. It was so boring the wife and I turned it off halfway through. And Jennifer Lawrence cycled through like 5 different accents in her first scene. I couldn't believe how ****ty that movie was. Talk about overrated.
Yes. Is it because of David O. Russell that people think that movie was so great? That guy owes Marky Mark for resurrecting his career but kicked him to the curb as soon as Hollywood started to take David seriously again
