Denver declined Jordan Hamilton's team option for the 2014-15 season, which would have paid him roughly $2.1M. As such, the Rockets cannot offer Jordan Hamilton any more than $2.1M next season even if the team is willing to use, for example, its non-taxpayer MLE in order to keep Hamilton.

Hamilton has played well for Houston so far. Even if he doesn't keep up the level of play statistically, anything even close to what he's doing now is going to land him more than $2.1M in the free agent market.

So, enjoy Jordan Hamilton while we have him. It's probably goodbye come summer time.

Maybe Jordan will enjoy his time in Houston and take a paycut. Maybe he wants to compete for championships.

This is his third game, worry about it later, at the moment he's going to be a big help to the rotation and he's a damn nice player

Doubt it. He hasn't made any real money in the NBA yet and is not in position to turn down money.

Even if Hamilton leaves, the point was made.

This is Morey sending a message to Parsons, "We love you, we want you back, but don't think you're irreplaceable."

    ;)

The whole trade was really about Morey reminding the league that he's still got it.

Maybe just, maybe he will sign a back loaded contract like 3yr 2 4 6 or 2 5 5 it 4 a year - should be about market value.

I don't the language of the cba, but it could mean we could go over 2.1 million to resign him.

well damn. I'm sure Morey knew this already (that Denver had declined the option). He must have a backup to this, or else Hamilton walks free (and probably ends up being an annoyingly medium sized contract that can't be moved anymore, if he does well with the Rocs).

Doesn't this mean Denver can't offer them more than 2.1 mil?

Houston wouldn't be bound by this.

Hamilton just needs to be a factor during our championship run! I like the way the kid has seemed to mesh with the team in such a short period of time.

I'm sure playing with Harden in high school didn't hurt. Great move Morey!
