So, help me out here. Are you saying that an impartial observer cannot judge Lin to be mediocre, or be of the opinion that Lin may not be in the Rockets' long-term plans? Does a negative assessment of Lin's performance and potential mean to you that the observer is necessarily biased? Is there no room for objective disagreement here?
LOL... This is a rich post! All impartial observers will appear biased to a LoF unless they are singing praises. There is nothing not impartial about considering Lin mediocre, because that is EXACTLY WHAT HE IS. But this rational opinion will ALWAYS be considered to be not impartial to LoF's because they believe he is a lot better than he really is.
Jeremy Lin is not a joke. its the offensive system and your 4 or 5 headed pg guard system is a joke. Your turning a pick n roll and a slasher pg into a spot up shooter , thats a joke. coaching is a joke too. Rockets been winning on talents but against a good team , your getting nowhere.
Mediocre is such a lovely word. It means both "ordinary quality" and "poor; inferior". And you can claim you meant either one, depending on how Lin is doing that week. Using average, or above average, or below average... those are just too unambiguous.
We turned Lin into a spot up shooter, because we have a much more efficient and better PnR, slashing player in Harden, you know... our star and ace? Lin has 3 options: 1. Develop into a better off the ball player 2. Ask to ONLY play when Harden is sitting 3. Wait to be traded, since that is most likely to happen
Because guys like you, me, and others stand up for Lin, we're labeled LOF or Lin fans. It's laughable because at the core of it all, we are ROCKETS fans. Well before anybody knew who a Jeremy Lin was. I get it. There are irrational LOF. But just because some Rockets fans point out the extreme when it comes to Lin, we're labeled as Lin fans or LOF. No, we root for the Rockets, and Lin is part of the team. We get it. Lin has been slumping as of late. But you can go to ANY past game thread and the Lin bashing is over the top. When the Rockets lose OR WIN. I've been saying it since forever. LOF are bad, but definitely not AS bad as LOH or closet LOH. When's the last time we seen a LOF make an over the top thread? But we have a ton of threads bashing Lin, like this one, or a 'I told you so' here are the numbers to back it up on why Bev should start over Lin.
The offensive system that produces the best shot quality in the NBA is a joke? Ok. Spoiler See second table sorted by effective shot quality.
You realize that perfectly describes Lin right? If Lin was consistent, he would be middling around the average to above-average area. The biggest problem with Lin is that he swings constantly between being pretty darn good to just absolute garbage. Does that not define mediocrity to a T?
You got the ball rolling by banning Lin fanatics posting in the game threads. Why stop now? Some of the posts in this thread are just as bad.
Jeremy Lin and Patrick Beverly stumble upon a magic lamp. Jeremy Lin gets to it first, picks it up and gives it a rub. There's a flash, a puff of smoke, and a genie appears The genie looks at the 2 men and demands to know who it was that rubbed the lamp. Delighted, Jeremy Lin announces that it was him. "Okay," says the genie, "So you get 3 wishes. But there's a catch." "What's that then?" asks Jeremy Lin. "Well, whatever you wish for, I'll give the other guy double." "That's alright with me," says Jeremy Lin, and starts the ball rolling by wishing for 15 million dollars. "Granted!" says the genie, "But Pat gets 30 million." "Fair enough. Now, I'd like to have a billion fans," "Done. But Pat gets 2 billion fans." "Okay," says Jeremy Lin, "I'd like to donate a kidney."
You're asking a guy who's been a PG his whole life, a slasher to play alongside Bev. Harden. And Parsons. All who bring up the ball and is let to initiate the offense while Lin is nothing more than a stand in the corner shooter. Lin has been slumping. But either put him out there with a lineup that gives him PG duties instead of what they're doing now. Lin bashing is terrible considering he got better after every month last season. Now everybody expects him to change his game and adapt to being a 6th man when nobody knew in camp he was going to lose his job. He's slumping. Let's see if he can right the ship or not. People need to be level headed about this
He got better after every month last season, in his first FULL season as a starter on a NEW team. Now he's been told to be a 6th man and adapt. He's been slumping as of late and NOW, hey look how inconsistent Lin has been.
Perhaps because you have posted several times the usual over the top drivel that is typical of LOF's - posts filled with irrational hate towards the Rockets organization from Morey to coach to Harden to Bev to all sorts of conspiracy theories, excuses and baseless accusations aimed at hiding the deficiencies of Lin as a basketball player??
Let Clutch and the mods do their job. They know what is deemed appropriate and what is not. If you're not happy, go create your own site and you can moderate every post to your hearts content. Further, if you don't like how things are run here, you can leave at any time and go to your fan only site. No one has tied you down and forced you to be here.
We are level-headed. Our offense is clicking and we're not gonna change a damn thing because its for the betterment of Jeremy Lin. If Lin can find a niche on this team, great because we need another able player off the bench, but he needs to figure out one. Yes we expect him to change his game, but his current game will take away from the BETTER PLAYERS.
Now now, don't be such a hypocrite FTW Rockets FTW. Before you criticize others, you are also part of them problem with the over the top drivel. See below:
I was making the excuses for the Lin fans before they all come in saying the same thing. It was one of the first posts in a ridiculous thread and if you've not realized a lot of ridiculous threads get ridiculous replies. I was comparing players based on last season and Lin played better IMO than the other two (all 3 were on new teams) be it because the others were injured or whatever. And I did say Lin was 2 years younger because I thought he had some upside. However, after watching all 3 this season (playing with the same team), I have a more concrete opinion and it is clear that Lowry and Dragic are superior players and Lin is pretty much at his ceiling as a player. *** happens. We lost to my most hated team Lakers at home and I wasn't cool enough and was still pissed at the defeat. I was mad at the Blake 3 due to missed rotations. Again, in game thread. You do know people comment during the heat of the moment. Not just about Lin but all other Rockets players. And I still stand, Lin does suck when he gets up in the air with no where to go and turns it over right into the hands of the opposing team. It's called a LIVE BALL TURNOVER and there is absolutely NO DEFENSE for it.
No, I don't really think it does describe Lin. I think "swings constantly between being pretty darn good to just absolute garbage" describes him much better. And that is not mediocrity, that is inconsistency.
