It's almost March - picking up Ben Gordon off the scrap heap is a no-brainer.

Could be our 2014 version of Sedale Threatt/Eddie "Money" Johnson

If the Rockets can get Ben Gordon on that 2 year deal, 2nd year Team Option, that certainly gives the Rockets a 'replacement' when they eventually trade Lin......*runs away*

I'm a huge Jeremy Lin fan, but he needs to start making some of those wide open 3's he gets. Also, he needs top stop driving aimlessly into the paint with nowhere to go.

Ha, my post was only 'slightly' in jest. I am not Lin hater. In fact, I very much want him to succeed. His skillset as a scoring 6th man IS what this team needs. But the reality/economics of his contract and the opportunity cost of being able to move his salary slot for a high caliber player is there.

Ben Gordon as a scoring 6th man at the fraction of the price just makes fiscal sense. And then Caanan can get his chance. ;)

Do you really think Granger was a fail? He is damaged goods who hasn't shown much this year.

Can Ben Gordon play a good defense? This team needs a defensive player, Granger can play defense before, but who knows if he can still play that role right now. Passing him is a good decision from Morey.

Yep, and maybe you dump Lin to a team like the Nets or the Knicks who are dumb enough to take on that $14M he's owed next year.

Ben Gordan on the bench would be huge. He can actually create his own shot and score!

Shooting 29% from 3 this season...and that's all you need to know for a soon to be 31 years old undersized SG.

if you're trying to fix the bench, you don't "replace" lin with gordon. you add gordon to lin.

when lin is in his offensive groove, he can carry the second unit offense on his own, scoring and making plays. but when he's having trouble scoring or in a slump like we've seen lately, you need another scorer to take the pressure off of him, especially with the way casspi and garcia have been playing. that's why we've seen a lot of lin/harden lately and not so much of lin/bev. as of now, there's really no decent offensive option on the second unit other than lin, and when he's in a slump, you're screwed and have to play starters more minutes then you'd like.

having gordon play sg next to lin would help provide a second scoring option off the bench, as well as allow lin to play the role of pg. lin/gordon/casspi/dmo/asik is a pretty formidable bench unit with three guys that can score but in different ways.

there is NO opportunity there to move lin. no team will take him ESPECIALLY with one year left on his contract where he's paid $15mil and you only get to write off $8mil against the cap as an expiring contract.

the only way for lin to get out of a rocket uniform is for the rockets to buy him out (he's be stupid to do that unless rockets agrees to the full $15mil, and the rockets would be stupid to do that), or steal his uniform.

lin will be a rocket until the summer of 2015, so you might as well make the best of it while he's here. if you want to put him on the 2nd unit and want production out of that unit, you give him some help, and gordon has a chance to be a huge help, imo.

picking up gordon would be like having AB back.

I guess the same could have been said for T-Mac too.

Ben Gordon has pretty much always shot 38-40 percent on the three ball. There are many years of that to go off of. Just because he has struggled a bit this year (in limited minutes) means little.

A new opportunity and a chance to win could reinvigorate him.

Fool's gold Hamilton and shortsighted Morey. I wish Hamilton never "emerged."

Granger is killing it for the Clips now.

Indeed, Daryl is better than this. He should not have made the knee-jerk move to factor Hamilton's fool's gold performance into deciding on pursuing Granger.

I thought Granger was toast, but he is playing well now. Let's see if he can keep it up or if that bum knee with act up again.

Either way, cyberx's information should be relied on as the gospel. He hasn't exactly batted 1.000. I don't think the Rockets ever really had a chance at Granger.

Or maybe you shouldn't have made this knee-jerk post based on a couple of solid games from Granger (while apparently ignoring Hamilton's solid games).

It's hilarious and quite pathetic that you're grasping for straws to criticize Morey. You're fighting a losing battle.
