Other than Dwight Howard, is Morey any good at chasing free agents?

Morey singlehandedly rebuilt the team into a contender without having a stink/tank year. deserves props, the more I'm typing I'm wondering if OP is just trolling now that i think of it...

    "Other than Dwight". Wtf?

He brought in a superstar. Come on, now.

If Granger was still a baller I'd say we missed out, but that's not the case.

First of all Danny Granger is horrible, second Pat Riley is just lucky that Dwyane Wade is best buddies with LeBron, Wade recruited LeBron not Riley, sick of Pat getting credit.

Doc is over rated as well, he had Allen and Garnett fall in his lap and the Clippers were already established before he joined them.

Daryl Morey has done a brilliant job, he stockpiled assets that resulted in Harden and got Dwight Howard, i think it is time to give Morey the credit he deserves

It would appear not, but I suspect it's more a case of Morey not wanting who you think he might. They're strange like that.

The thread is dumb in general but ill play the game. This day and age, star players want to play with other start players. I would say Morey is 1 for 1 in meaningful FA gets since getting Harden. It was all about that first star. I think history has shown that guys will eventually come here on the cheap just to play with our 2 stars.

I suppose the clippers losing Redick, possibly Crawford as well, and having a SF rotation of Barnes and Dudley doesn't factor in.

I didn't realize a hobbled Danny Granger was a "big free agent"

He yanked a diamond in the rough out from Denver at the cost of a 3rd string PG.

Clutchfans logic for every desirable FA that isn't picked up by the Rockets:

"MOREY, WTF ARE YOU DOING GET OFF YOUR ASS! How can you let _____ get away!??!"

Rockets already has one of the highest transaction rates of NBA franchises. He doesn't need to sign everyone. Danny Granger isn't even playing well.

Morey stats approved casspi, he was someone he could get for cheap, so he got mchale to call casspi a few times over the summer & tell him how important he can be to this contending team. & he ended up signing... So yes he can get vet guys also

Let's see now. Granger has a home in LA & works out at the Clips practice facilities in the summer. That mightuv had something to do with it. Plus with the emergence of a healthy Jordan Hamilton, I think Morey backed off of a recovering Danny Granger. Sorta like a bird in hand's worth 2 in the bush. I see you forgot Big Baby. Oh wait, he played for Doc in Boston.

As far as Pat Riley goes, he was the beneficiary of a pact made between Bosh, James & Wade several years earlier.

Looks like without ties to other people or places, Morey's doing pretty good. But then I'm justa "Glass half full" kinda guy!

Is him seeing only numbers and no names supposed to be good? Some would argue that thinking works against a team looking to win a ring

Or maybe Morey doesn't have the same relationships he should pthat Doc or Riley have. Remember a few months ago there was a article saying Morey's perceived as arrogant to agents and other GM's around the league. Now, everybody on here thought this was cute. But it's actually working against us now. Building relationships is not Daryl Morey's strongsuit
