Magic just runs the offense so much better than Dennis Johnson. Too much athleticism. All the teams are great here, but I think that makes the difference.
I honestly don't know that much about Elgin Baylor. I'm sorry. His true shooting was quite mediocre. I honestly did forget about his shooting ability. Always had him pegged as a more athletic Melo. I do appreciate the spite vote against me though.
Oh and the Dantley thing - He shot 0.1 3s per game for his career which made me think he doesn't really take 3s. His most prolific season he shot 0.3 3s. I know he was a good mid range shooter and an absolutely terrific scorer. Most of it came through his post up game and from creativity near the basket. He would hijack the offense and played no defense. No good team really wanted him. He never improved his actual team's play which is kind of important to me.
Magic wouldn't go off on DJ, he's an all-time defender. Plus, he'd also have problems vs. a prime Deron. Also, I don't need a pg that racks up 10+apg when I have Dumars, Barry and Hakeem, plus Deron off the bench. My team is athletic enough to defend VoA team and would really be able to slow the game down imo, where I see a clear halfcourt advantage.
Skill-wise he's a great guy, especoally when you look at. this and last season. Don't know how many all-time PFs have his package and stats.
i pick vbg bcuz i don't remember lcah making a trade. ---------------------------- pick thething because hoary picked up rodman -------------------------------- jmcballer's team overall is better -------------------------------------- yung t because he had the balls to drop and not consider trading rodman for anyone
jammers his team looks better in chemistry/defensively.. offense is a toss up between the two. --------------------------------- oelman because brad miller kicks ass -------------------------------------------- me because torque flaked on this draft -------------------------------------------- RedNation because bigm drafts players in the 90s
Maloe stacked nice talent, but feel like you basically have three ball-dominant point forwards starting, none of them a great spot up shooter. Should've traded one of your brehs for a better fit.
VBG -- just a bit more talent. close, both teams look good. horry -- slightly less talent IMO but I don't like spacing on the other team, a lot of players who like to score in the post and whose range doesn't extend past 20 feet. Webber should be starting imo. jmc -- talent level. CP3 + 2 Malones is a great 'big 3' and more than rr14 has. I think jmc's bench is slightly better too. rr14 has crazy size across all positions but it doesn't erase that talent difference IMO. Actually, Sabonis/Gilmore combo would be pretty slow running back, and jmc has a great transition team, so that size might actually end up backfiring and get jmc lots of open shots early in the clock. Yung-T -- tough to pick this one. On one hand, I think Yung-T has a big advantage in the frontcourt, I also like VoA's spacing less, and I don't like Willis Reed much, especially as a starting PF. On the other hand, there's Magic. I think Magic could turn some pretty weird teams into a great offense. No one is stopping him. One of those real life series against Dennis Johnson, Magic had 26-13-8. He's Magic. Anyway, after going back and forth, I'll take Yung-T's team by a bit. YSL vs. Jamers -- undecided. Almost clone teams. By the way, this "winner gets a player" thing will get really unbalanced quickly. Like in this matchup one team has Kidd, Hayes, Wilt, the other has Nash, Pettit, Shaq. Whichever team wins and whichever player they select, it makes almost no difference. But imagine if a team of Larry Bird+Jerry West+Isiah Thomas+Marc Gasol gets to replace Marc Gasol with Kareem. Anyway, I guess it's kind of fun. But tough luck for some. Both teams in this matchup lose. torque -- I think Torque's team just has more talent. I think torque has a more talented frontcourt and probably a more talented backcourt. There's a gap between prime Brand/Mourning and prime Dirk/Russell, but the gap between Pippen and Cooper more than makes up for it. Overall, I think both teams are built pretty well. RedNation vs. Maloe -- undecided. Maloe has a bit more talent but I really like how RedNation's team is built.
Speak up if there are mistakes vbg vs. lcahmed 4-1 thething vs. horry 1-4 jmc vs. rr14 4-0 voa vs. yung-t 2-4 ysl vs. jamers 2-4 dfb vs. oelman 1-4 torque vs. jvu 3-3 rednation vs. bigmaloe 4-0
I was surprised by Maloe getting destroyed like that. I thought it would be close. I like how RedNation's team is built more, but there's such a clear talent difference. Who does Mark Price defend? Maloe's team would just be passing the ball and exploiting whoever has a mismatch.
Honestly i didn't expect to win this matchup, while i love my team and my chances. I feel RedN was the worse possible matchup for me. He stacks up nicely, and well, his players weren't marred by injuries.
