We won't be making ourselves worse by getting rid of Asik and Jones. They can be replaced by a true stretch 4 that can both shoot the 3 and defend a little bit and a vet 7 footer that can give us 15 a night behind Dwight. All sorts of possibilities.

Please don't waste your time, because you have no position other than "he's a scrub" bla bla bla. I don't think you fully grasp the definition of a "role" player and the value of veteran experience. You just look at a player, who probably hasn't played in awhile, and automatically assume he's a scrub without considering what role he'd play for us verses the role he played for his prior team. Maybe the the role he played on the team prior wasn't suited for him? Maybe the team prior wasn't in win mode or had that player playing out of position? Maybe that player had a falling out with his prior coach? Too many factors you have to consider before stupidly throwin out the word "scrub". There were a few who thought San Antonio could've actually used Stephen Jackson last year against Miami. Yet he's a scrub now to a misinformed dude on a messageboard, um ok smh.

FYI, we signed a 40 yr old guy named Dikembe Mutumbo awhile back and he contributed greatly that year. So did Jon Barry. I'd bet you'd had been against signing them too? Never mind:rolleyes:

Whoever left the rep comment for me for a post I left in this thread... I tend to agree actually. I wouldn't say "doesn't care" - but his expectations are almost too realistic.

You can spout whatever garbage you want, but good luck trying to find anyone dumb enough to take you seriously. Spurs also signed T-Mac and that worked out REAL well for them. Then again, while you are busy trying to shove "role players" in people's faces, try also looking up the term "Insurance" as well.

lets waive casspi and bring someone else. Anyone is better than Casspi he should know his role. He is a spot up shooter and not a dribble drive in kinda guy. His rebounds are non existent and his 3s are not falling down just bricks all day

Glad we got Hamilton he brought some range that we need and he is more athletic too. He seems to have more bounce and his defense looks ok

if we could waive Casspi and bring Granger ill be up for it. He is a good defender maybe his offense not so much lately but we could use his defense and when he gets hot he can shoot 3s

Agreed! Thanks for reminding why I shouldn't respond to you. First smart thing you said this whole time. :p Keep believing that scrubs like Boobie or the current SJax can act as some sort of "veteran" presence for our team. If your list was for veterans like say Granger who have carried their teams deep and aren't one of those directly responsible for the Palace Brawl, people might actually take you seriously.

He made key 3s the game before and scored 16 in limited shots and minutes. He's done plenty and should have started in place of a sick Parsons that had trouble moving.

Who are these players that are at least as good as Jones and Asik that are going to sign for just one year deals?

The team is not waiving Casspi. He has produced reasonably well whether you judge it by plus-minus or box score based stats like TS%, Reb%, ORtg, PER, etc.

Also, the Rockets have a team option on him at minimum wage next year. They are unlikely to find another minimum wage guy on the market that is even as good as Casspi even if it is to fill in as the "insurance" 9th-11th guy role.

    Exactly.

What merit has either of Garcia or Smith in place of Casspi???

Which minimum salary guy can we pick up to round out the roster who can give us somewhat useful minutes as an NBA player, who is a 35% 3 point shooter and can marginally defend the 4 spot??

    next year trade deadline

Instead of going after 2015 free agents, don't you think it would make more sense to set yourself up to trade for those same players at trade deadline next year, when you have asik and Lin mostly paid off and expiring for a team to start over with huge cap space themselves?
I doubt Morey is planning on waiting til 2015 season to really compete. He just doesn't want to lose flexibility by going all in this season when those awful contracts look really nice at trade deadline and u get your 3rd piece for the championship.

OK, who goes if someone comes? The only other (seeming, to me anyway) possibility is Greg Smith. He'd last zilcho time out there if set free.

Granger can help defend some PFs. The Rockets need another option there.

wow....I'd rather have Granger, although Hamilton did surprise me last night. I still say Morey should go after Granger.

A second unit of Lin/Hamilton/Granger/Dmo/Asik is a solid bench.

So it's inconceivable to you that Garcia would be waived?

And you can book it that G Smith will be waived if Camby is added to the roster. He will not last 'zilcho' time, because G Smith is crap.

To the former, does his contract not offer him protection?

To the latter, now with the nee or knot, GS4 will still last zilcho time. Waiver pick-up.

If Cisco can be a go go then go go he shall.
