You should visit where they make it in Brenham. Nice little trip and take the tour, especially if you have kids. Its not that far from Houston at all. Houston gets the freshest blue bell since we share the same delivery rout where its made.
I miss Blue Bell so much. Why can't they have that in California? Having said that, anything brown rim. Why does that sound so naughty?
We are planning on it. Surprisingly, I've never been, having grown up about an hour from that place. Crazy. In fifth grade, or something, they made the field trip every year, and suddenly, it quit when I got to the grade. I was very disappoint. Anyways, my wife has had Blue Bell maybe once in her life (and I think just plain vanilla, to boot). She's never seen the blue bonnets up that way, either. So, we are planning on taking her up there, doing the blue bonnets, Blue Bell, and my dad apparently has a place in College Station, or somewhere around it, that he gets sausage from, so we will probably do that too.
On the bluebonnets, the best place is actually a little west of Brenham on 290 at the Washington County line sign. It's on a hill and always is completely covered.
They had talked about going out that way, actually. They talked about swinging by somewhere near Washington on the Brazos on the way out to Brenham.
Spring is near so bonnets should be blooming. Get to the facility early, its first come first serve. Great and cheap fun.
Worked there almost 20 years ago while going to Blinn and its true you get to eat all you can and they sell the rest. We would get a fresh pint off the line it was like a thick milk shake. Hard to believe but it does not take very long to get burned out on unlimited ice cream. current favorites great divide cookies n cream wish they would bring back caramel sunday crunch
Lemon. No, not sherbet either. Lemon ice cream. You can only find it, to my knowledge, at a place called Scoops on 290 on your way to Austin. You are all welcome.
Haven't tried any new flavors in the past 5 years since I don't live in Houston anymore but my go to ones were Butter Pecan and Rocky Road.
I like Rocky Road and Homemade Vanilla. The one I tried I didn't particularly care for once was Cotton Candy. But, I'm not eating no damn ice cream cause it makes me fat. "Ice cream bad...very bad. Bad...bad...bad." (wag finger back and forth) - Baboo 7-Eleven introduced a new Diet Coke slurpee. That might become my ice cream replacement.
