I recall a few national sports radio heads saying TN > TX.

    Maybe they're a bad judge.

Will explore both states for the best point of view.

IF you can make good brisket, you can make ANY of that other "BBQ."

This. Texas BBQ is better than Tennessee's BBQ in every category except ribs.

Edit: Texas is also not the best in pulled pork. That's it.

The picture reminds me of the line my brothers and I used to queue in for a loaf of bread in old Soviet Russia every Thursday morning. Some things never change.

I've had TX, TN, and KC BBQ. My rankings based on personal experience: TX, KC, TN. Also Killens is pretty good.

LOL Tennessee. Pulled Pork is the only thing TX BBQ doesn't dominate.

I like TX and haven't tried TN or KC. Just stating what others have said.

So TX isn't the best at everything?

So who is the best at pulled pork? Is it the east coast or St Louis? I have friends from SL and they say brisket is nasty and they only BBQ pork. I just have to laugh.

    Bold assumption.

lol. You just listed BBQ joints from Houston. Austin is BBQ central in Texas. The least you could've done is listed the majority of them from there.

Some of you crack me up. I've spent 48 yrs in Texas and to make the comment "Texas BBQ is better than another states BBQ" or that "another states BBQ is better than Texas" is just pure FOOLISHNESS.

So you're going to lump every BBQ place in the same boat? I've had BBQ from numerous restaurants in Texas that flat out SUCKED. I've had BBQ from restaurants in Texas that were fantastic. If you want to pit one specific restaurant up against another restaurant so be it, but to do it by the entire state? Give me a freakin break!

The interesting thing is that the beef rib is the headliner here more than the brisket.

As far as Rudy's, it is good and consistent and cheap.

    Q

Nope, been there done that with the majority of BBQ in Texas...Gatlin's ribs are the best Ive ever had.

I have a friend that owns BBQ joints around the Houston area (Sugarland, Missouri City, West Houston) and even he has similar sentiments.
