Obviously you have no idea how much Carl loves Omer and obviously you don't recall the downward spiral the GARM took the last time Morey traded one of Carls favs

Yes the RUMORED deal sucks butt. Yes losing Asik for bad contracts would suck if this is true .

But it still doesn't change the fact that we've seen this before time and time again with rumored Morey deals and he's has constantly come through in the clutch.

The guy isn't an idiot. If he's making a deal he usually has a good reason for doing so.

Also did I forget to mention ... IT HASNT HAPPENED YET. No reason to start calling for his head right now.

Oh yeah, Morey is great because he got lucky that Harden didn't sign extension and Wizards didn't want to trade Beal or GSW Thompson for him. You don't win a trade until you win championship, that's the only goal in NBA.

Let's forget about overpaying Ariza. Letting Dragic go for nothing then paying more for Lin. Trading Patterson for scrub like Robinson. TWill and Robinson go in the same category.

Trading top 5 defensive center for two scrubs and late first round pick is one the worst trades in past decade.

And this are only personnel mistakes. He has failed to create any kind of culture because he trades everyone every 24 months.

This guy is addicted to trading and should be fired immediately.

Whoa whoa there buddy. Lets just sit back and analyze this statement. I can name three bonafide centers who are better defensive centers than Asik. Lets start in no particular order.

    1. Dwight Howard
    2. Roy Hibbert
    3. Tyson Chandler
    4. Joakim Noah
    5. Marc Gasol
... and for kicks and giggles 6. Andre Drummond

So now that we have established your statement is wrong. Let me tell you why you are overreacting. Everyone who is pissed about this trade overvalued Asik.

He is a 7 foot center that is single dimensional with absolutely no offensive game. He cannot catch the ball on the run and I honestly believe his defense is overrated against big men who can shoot. Chris Bosh, Kevin Love, LMA eat him for breakfast. All of you who overvalued Asik were wanting Rondo, TWO first round picks, etc. It was a pipedream. You set yourself up to feel this way.

Instead we get a servicable tweener in Bass who can hit the mid range shot and give T. Jones some rest. We got a above average defender in Lee who is officially tied for the the fourth best defensive player with Jones on this team after Howard, Parsons, and Beverly. We also got a first round pick. I don't know about you, but first round picks can be packaged in deals and are relatively valuable.

So before you crap on the trade, let me remind you. Rondo was never on the table. If you thought you were getting two first round picks for him, you don't know business and value.

Ariza- yes, he overpaid, but he fixed that mistake by trading him for Courtney Lee
Dragic- Dragic wanted a player-option that didn't fit into Morey's plan at the time.
Lin and Asik- Morey expolited a loophole to acquire these two players for nothing.
    Trading Asik- Hasn't happened yet
Patterson- how was this a terrible move? Trob didn't pan out in the end, but it's not like Ppat tore it up afterwards. We also got Garcia out of that.

Let's look at the other things he's done
    Acquired Howard for nothing
Harden for Kmart, Lamb, Raptor pick, Dallas pick
    Drafted Chandler Parsons
    Signed Beverley for very cheap
Traded Lowry for the Raptor pick
Traded Camby's for NY 2nd rd picks (the 2014 2nd is now looking pretty good)
Budinger for Minnesota's pick (Terrence Jones)

I like the trade Bass and Lee are solid role players that will both get some playing time in areas of need plus a 1st round pick for an unhappy player that was going to walk in a season and half. What is happening now is we are going to have to trust Howard because the "safety net" is gone. The man of steel or glass - he is OURS now.

We got Dwight on a free agent deal without giving up anything (except TRob and Morris if you want to stretch it).

Whatever we get from Asik is a bonus.

We are built to win now, with a few tweaks.

Having said that, if we're getting Lee, Bass and a pick, why not go for

Nogueira's rights, a 2015 1st round pick from Atlanta (with rights to swap with Brooklyn) and an expiring in elton Brand to play back-up center.

    That's essentially two 1st round picks and a stop-gap back-up center.

Three former Rockets front office personnel are GM's for other teams now. If Murray was fired there would be a bidding war to hire him.

Drafted Landry, Brooks, Bud and Terrence Jones
Signed Chuck Hayes who became the greatest 6'6 center of the modern era

Traded landry + broken T-Mac for Kmart and Jordan Hill (which was traded for 1st round pick)

Traded Brooks for Dragic and a first round pick

Traded Bud for a first round pick.

People keep saying how lucky we're to get Harden, some luck is involved. But just look at those three moves, that's a late first round and 2 second round that lead to the stock pile of assets AND flexibility to make the trade.

Also we got got Lowry for Rafer Alston.

People don't understand when I made this thread.

At that time, Morey just sold away our future for Pau Gasol and Nene. Could you imagine what we would have looked like with those two on the team right now?

There would have been no Howard, no Harden, and stuck with two aging over the hill bigs.

stop hating. go be a fan of the mavericks or something. he fixed the ariza mistake by trading that salary away. he traded for that "scrub" robinson to free cap space to sign dwight howard. He takes calculated small/risk high reward moves..... and guess what. IT ALL PAID OFF IN THE HAND BECAUSE HE KEPT US FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO GET HARDEN AND HOWARD.

I love your response. You crushed FearTheBeardJH's assertions so hard there's nothing left of them but nanites. I would add to that DM also put together a great staff that was so good other teams around the league are both copying it and attempting to poach Rockets staff at every opportunity. For some people the grasses are ***always greener on the other side - if DM was fired for some reason this guy and others would be calling for his replacements head on a spike in the first 5 minutes or our first loss.

All that fuss for someone who was expendable once Cousins re-signed for the max, and is shooting 28% from 3s this season.

I'm done with Morey. The Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin signings were complete busts. Talk about a waste of money for two back-up players. It's nice to finally have some superstar talent but with those two bad contracts, it's going to be nearly impossible to put players around Harden and Dwight to be true title contenders. Also Morey's faith in Kevin McFail is beyond bad. You're never going to win anything with a terrible coach and Morey has failed to realize this. Stop calling this guy a genius, he is far from it.
