I personally am surprised to not see OKC as a potential landing spot. I really think they could use the depth and they need another wing defender. Would they be able to make an offer?

The Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as the frontrunners to sign forward Danny Granger, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Once Granger clears waivers in the next 48 hours, the Clippers' ability to offer him significant playing time and championship contention under coach Doc Rivers makes them the most attractive destination, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Still, the San Antonio Spurs remain a viable possibility for Granger. The Spurs are selling Granger on a modern-day variation of the Robert Horry role in San Antonio, league sources said. Granger is expected to speak with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and general manager R.C. Buford in the near future, sources said.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Granger reached agreement on a contract buyout Wednesday, clearing the way for the former All-Star forward to become a free agent. Once Granger clears waivers Friday, he becomes one of the premier targets on the NBA's free-agent market.

Beyond the Clippers and Spurs, the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks have shown an inclination to pursue Granger and are expected to have conversations with him, league sources said.

Granger will now choose between elite playoff teams looking to add the best possible player available. According to sources, Granger is looking at five teams: the Clippers, Rockets, Bulls, Heat and Spurs. He is expected to make his decision by Friday.

    ...

Granger is looking for a team where he can rebuild his value after missing all but five games last season, including the playoffs, and the first chunk of this season rehabbing his surgically repaired knee.

Granger has relationships with each of the teams. His pre-draft workout was run by J.B. Bickerstaff, the Rockets' assistant coach. He has the same representatives, CAA, as the Clippers' Chris Paul, the Spurs' Tony Parker, and Miami's quartet of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Udonis Haslem and Chris Andersen. He has respect for the Spurs' organization, according to a source. And the Bulls are in the Central Division with the Pacers, which would afford him a chance to play against his old team.

Don't know what is in this thread, but buyout is official and Granger is expected to make his decision by Friday.

Definitely worth a flyer even though he is not the player he was. Of course, if he was the player he was he wouldn't have been traded and bought out.

You are thinking Granger will be close to 100% again. Acquiring Granger now is like acquiring T-Mac at 30.

I highly doubt that Lance Zierlein spoke with Danny Granger, anyone from his camp, or anyone that even knows him. There's a good chance that Lance Zierlein doesn't even know who Danny Granger is.

    Solid post. Hopefully, you're right.

I'm worried about the Clippers. All things being equal, that's probably where I would sign if I were him.

I mean it's worth a shot to at least try and get him. He was a proven legitimate scorer and defender.
Josh played well last night, but if you get a chance to get someone with the size and skills of Granger you just have to try and get him.
I like our team as it is, but I don't see taking a chance on Granger hurts in any way.

Clippers got him it's over. I think this ironically makes them worse they have too many players that were good or are just plain hyped popular wise. I believe they need more balance.

From what I've seen with players that get buyouts who haven't won a title, #2 on your list trumps #1.

Hold on, seems like he is going to speak with all those teams firstly.
We have time to beat Clipps and Heat in that time to improve our chances.

Btw, I thought the Clippers could only offer him the vet min. Is he willing to sacrifice money?

I think Richard Hamilton has shown to be a great backup to Harden already. Do they cut him to make room for Ranger? Why the hell are Cassipi and Garcia still on the roster?
