I've gone back and forth but I kept hearing "there is no Luck" and now I think it's true. Clowney best player period or Greg Robinson, who really impressed me. A true road grader and could fix a major hole at RT if he can switch.
Cleveland was willing to trade for a head coach(Jim Harbaugh) and mortgage a ton of picks to do so... This organization is totally inept...they would be the most likely candidate for a trade.
I still have not voted yet, but I am leaning to trading the pick to Cleveland for two first round picks and maybe a player we want. I bet they would do it. Sure as we pass on Manziel he will go to Jacksonville and beat us for the next ten years. It would be better if he were in Cleveland. (freezing)
I agree, of course assuming we get good value for the trade. Clowney + Matt Cassell/Kirk Cousins/Ryan Mallett + 3rd/4th round QB to groom under BO'B (Murray/Garrappolo/Mettenberger)
If you rank Clowney #1 on your board then, that would be the plan. I'd throw in McCown if you can afford the bidding war. McCown was fourth in the league in Football Outsiders' QB value-per-play metric last season behind only Peyton Manning, Nick Foles and Philip Rivers. Cutler ranked 13th. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb Also, those arent "scrub" quarterbacks. They are in the mix to be the next good one out of the 3rd round. Murray was considered an elite, four year starter in the same system that produced Matthew Stafford (spread, pro-I, play-action, dropback, shotgun) before he got hurt and his ACL injury is very repairable these days. And Mettenberger is huge. LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that Mettenberger is making a "miraculous" recovery from his surgery, which was performed Jan. 2. Mettenberger began throwing again early this month. "I'm not saying he's Adrian Peterson, but he's going to be close," Cameron said. "With technology today and you add his work ethic, he may be one of those guys who's better off and has more knee stability now." Mettenberger (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) threw for 3,082 yards, 22 touchdowns and had eight interceptions before tearing the ACL in his left knee in the regular-season finale against Arkansas. Cameron is a big fan of Mettenberger despite the quarterback's perceived lack of mobility. "I don't care how mobile a guy is," Cameron said. "If he can't throw the football in critical situations with pinpoint accuracy, he's not going to win championships. ... A quarterback's not going to survive in that league unless he's pinpoint accurate under pressure. The good news for Zach is that he's pinpoint accurate under pressure." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...tenbergers-recovery-close-to-adrian-petersons Garoppolo: Garoppolo possesses one of the quickest releases you'll see out of any quarterback in the 2014 class. He has a Michael Vick-like flick of the wrist release, where he's able to get the ball out extremely fast, perfect for an intermediate, west coast style offense Garoppolo has protoypical size, if not, he's just below at 6'3'', 222 pounds. He's got enough build on him to take a good amount of hits behind a below average offensive line, if in fact that's the situation he's drafted into at the next level. Through two games of film study on Garoppolo, you see that he's the definition of a pure gunslinger. You see some young Brett Favre in him, also some Jay Cutler. http://www.footballnation.com/content/scouting-the-draft-qb-jimmy-garoppolo-eastern-illinois/26055/
If they take Clowney and Bortles, Bridgewater, Carr, and Manziel are all gone before the 2nd round (good chance of that happening if they do indeed take Clowney), what else are they going to do then? Who else is out there besides some of those guys listed?
Lance's mock draft comes out later today. He just said his top 4 picks are Clowney, Robinson, Mack, Bridgewater. In that order.
Clowney in the 1st round and McCarron (Alabama QB) in the 2nd round? I would also consider Bridgewater with the 1st pick ... http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/0ap2000000329283/Warner-Bridgewater-is-the-most-NFL-ready-QB
alright guys our firned John Mclain is on 610 Sprts Radio this morning.. Hes been at the combine so im hoping he has some insight.. Im at work now so if anyone could post who he now thinks the Txans would pick..
For what it's worth, he didn't offer anything new. He says the combine is a pointless waste of money and that the Texans have no idea who they want to take because they are too far away from being done with the process.
