Whenever my buddies and I have a grill out session, I tend to eat pretty damn spicy and every time they see me eat a pepper, they dont believe I can handle it.

Im not one that goes boasting on how spicy I can eat things, I just enjoy my food really spicy. This occurrence always brings out a "who can eat the spiciest challenge" in which case I usually always win, but I know what I can handle and am not going to eat ghost peppers or anything of that sort to prove a point.

My question is why do guys feel the need to out-spicy the other guy to feel like more of a man? Can anybody else relate to this (be it the challenger or the challenged)? I always found it to be a little on the ridiculous side.

Because they want to experience anal pain and figure out what team they want to bat for.

It is a test of the threshold level of the pain associated with heat in spices. It's dumb to think the way you describe it though.

    Spice tastes good?

If I wanted bland food I would let my wife cook?

Men are naturally competitive. We will turn any mundane activity into a competition to see who is the winner and deserving of boning one's chick.

In my circle of friends, the winner of Monopoly gets to have sex with each of the loser's girlfriends.

Capsaicin, the chemical that makes food spicy, stimulates the pain nerves rather than the taste nerves so seeing how spicy food you can eat is just another macho test of pain endurance. It's no different than when kids see which one can hold their breath the longest or doing a tough mudder.

Another question to ask is, why did you spell "dudes" "doods" in the title?

Churchs or even Popeyes, as a matter of fact, are not spicy at all. Hell, not even Chic- filas' so called "spicy chicken sandwich" is close to being spicy. The only spicy food that I can say was really spicy from an American chain is Wing Stops atomic wings. Everything else is a joke.
