That my friend is a great deal for anyone who enjoys next gen 720p/30fps games and does not own an xbone. Looks like ms finally realized the importance of proper pricing after seeing retailers start giving out big discounts on xbone a couple of months after release. An xbone, some game plus 1 month ability to play online and watch netflix that you already paid for, all for only $500. This bundle is so exciting it can potentially make any game look like a xbone seller. If they can keep this up and the PS4 continue to be out of stock, they would not need to consider dropping kinect to even the odds in the US for the coming month.

They've had the Titanfall bundle planned since before launch, as they do the Halo bundle next holiday season. It is a digital copy of the game, so no retail ramifications. I imagine that this was also negotiated with EA/Respawn when the exclusive rights were purchased years ago. Respawn gets built in sales, so it is a great deal for them... and Microsoft only "loses" on the developer/publisher cut. They don't have to pay a retail cut since it is digital, and their licensing cut costs them nothing.

 

Lol Microsoft price dropped the Xbox One in the UK to 399. I knew they were getting trounced by Sony, but I didn't expect desperation so quickly. They're even packing in Titanfall for free.

I hope no one here dropped 5 on one. I'd be supremely pissed.

 

Price drops are part of purchasing electronics. Hell, the 65" TV I bought two months ago is $400 cheaper now. All consumers know this.

I think it is hilarious all of the haters who yelled "It's too expensive" now say it is hilarious that they dropped the price and/or are bundling to increase value. So ignorant.

 

Great news for those who enjoys next gen 720p/30fps games in UK. Tho it has been only a couple of months after release, it is quite understandable given the current situation of xbone. More price drop among the released countries should be expected soon.

Not within a year of launching. Maybe a different SKU at a lower price but not an original SKU.

I got the new xboxone on ebay with free shipping and no tax for $470. That was almost a month ago.

You can say whatever you want, $100 price drops 3 months after a console launch are not normal. Usually it's $50 after 6 months to a year. Not to mention packing in the game that people were going to be dropping $60 for anyway is a big sign of desperation. Spin it however you wish.

 

Just wait for the next Naughty Dog game. That will sell consoles.

titnfall is 60fps, xbone had 1080p/60fps launch titles just like PS3 did, these are facts thank you for posting them. And I respect rest of your opinions too.

Probably. Rumor is they've been working on it for 3 years already though, if that is the case they likely have a team making something else as well.

 

Sony to Develop Console Wars Movie

Sony Pictures is set to develop the film adaptation of Blake J. Harris' upcoming book Console Wars: SEGA, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation.

The book, described on Amazon as a "behind-the-scenes business thriller," focuses on "small and scrappy" SEGA and the company's aspirations to take on Nintendo in the console market during the early '90s. According to a press release from Console Wars' publisher Atlantic Books, the film adaptation will be developed by Sony and Scott Rudin (Moneyball, The Social Network) and directed and written by frequent collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Harris himself will take on Executive Producer duties and will also co-direct a documentary on the same subject, produced by Rudin, Rogen and Goldberg.

"Blake Harris's amazing book has all the narrative drama of the work of Michael Lewis and Ben Mezrich," said Atlantic Books' Toby Mundy in the release. "It should appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike."

Back in May last year, Sony registered a slew of domain names relating to Console Wars, which left a number of folk confused as to exactly what "console war" the company would be tackling in light of recent hardware launches.

Good move by Microsoft. Price cut in Europe, Titanfall bundle in the U.S. that amounts to the same thing. They had to do something, and this is a good start.
