I could see hamilton fitting into the team in the 9th spot though. he's a guy you can send down to RGV to work on his 3 and D. You can't do that with an aging post-injury Granger.

Also both are slow but I'm pretty sure Hamilton is more athletic and is at least young enough to improve

As an added note, just because Morey was interested in Granger before the trade deadline does not necessarily mean he is interested in Granger now. Morey wanted to move Lin for cap flexibility and Granger's contract fit that flexibility factor.

And the reason Morey tried so hard to move both guys (but especially Lin) out by the deadline is because he has his eye on 2014 free agency. Because Bosh (and possibly others) is a definite possibility.

Codman probably won't verify this. Its probably too risky for him to do so. But theres lots of stuff going on behind the scenes, lots of communication channels between players and agents and front office folks.

Watching granger play is sad. The guy is a borderline NBA player now from the looks of it.

You think he would've took hill starting spot ? I know they've been looking for another playmakers, Hill has better D but lins is also solid and would look way better on a defensive team like the pacers. hill played 30+ mins last night 0pts, 0reb, 1asst., 2turnovers so maybe they were trying to upgrade that spot ?

    -Thanks, Codman.

-I can imagine that anything that we hear is only the tip of the iceberg lettuce compared to what's actually discussed and considered.

-About Granger: I wonder if right now the Rockets not among his rumored destinations has to do more with Granger not interested in Houston than the other way around. Who knows what Granger's personal priorities and preferences are anyway. Maybe he doesn't think he'd get enough minutes in Houston. Maybe he doesn't like Morey or whatever.

    - Marc Stein of ESPN tweeted about how Philly would be doing a favor to Granger by buying him out because they may be able to get something back for him this summer with a sign an trade. I wonder if Houston is a potential S&T partner (maybe we can give him 2 2nd round picks, which appears to be what Hinkie asks from everybody).

-On Indiana's front: Would they be willing to take either Lin or Asik in return for Granger? Those guys have been adamant about being on a budget and they can't take any money back if they want to stay under the tax while re-signing Stephenson. They also eventually traded for two expiring guys (Turner, LaVoy Allen) and preserved that potential cap space.

That's what I get from all this besides rondo, he was looking to move Lin or ASIK for cap room for 2014, I would guess he tries again this summer. I think melo and others were on the radar

The issue there is that there is basically no cap benefit unless you move BOTH Lin and Asik.

Maybe they are confident about being able to move Asik in the summer if Lin is moved now or whatever. There are just a bunch of interlocking considerations.

Yeah, but if you move one of them now, and one of them at (say) the draft, then you've suddenly found that cap room.

I imagine if we'd moved Lin at the deadline, it'd be a much much easier job to shift Asik on draft day. Everyone suddenly realizes they need a quality big, and is suddenly desperate to get one.

Might be easier to move LinSik if they have a strong showing in the playoffs, but I strongly suspect owners have quietly decided to Les eat those two contracts. Still, I can already predict the draft day chatter.

Granger would rather play for a contender or somewhere he has minutes. He'll say the right things to the media, but he wants out of Philly, which is rightfully so.

Also, whomever said Danny was a shell of himself, that's not true. He hasn't had the minutes to show anything. He's recovering, but he can easily put up 25. Imagine him in a lineup with Harden,CP25, Dwight and Pat Pat. We're a little smaller, but we're a legit scoring threat from everywhere on the court. Granger is flexible in that he can play the 4 if need be, and his contract was expiring. I, for one, am sad hat it didn't work out. Damn Philly!!

From what I was told, there would have been a third team involved (Philly/Denver/other) to make it work. Asik was going to be moved before Lin. Every team needs a dependable big. Lin was considered, but Morey does value him, even if he's not starting. When I said Morey is BIG on team UNITY, I meant it. Lin is a peacemaker.

Personally, I was more excited when I heard about getting JJ Hickson. That would have been a great pickup at the 4. He's young and talented.I heard Jordan Hamilton early on from my people, but Morey wanted to double-dip from the Nugs...you can't take 2 bigs/tweeners away without giving one back.

Maybe. I asked my guys and they said the Rockets weren't interested in Melo. Said his contract demands and wanting to be "the man" would hurt chemistry.

Also, apparently he and Dwight aren't the best of friends...

    Thanks for the reply.

I wonder why Houston, Philly and Indy couldn't have made a deal to get Granger to Houston instead of Philly. Philly does not have a lot of use for Granger and is considering buying him out, or at most sign and trade him as an asset this summer. Philly is also reportedly interested in Asik. If so, why not make the Granger deal a 3 way? Maybe have Houston throw in a 2nd rounder with Asik for Granger since that's the life fuel of Sam Hinkie apparently.

Maybe the just ran out of time as the Philly-Indy deal was the very last one to be reported by the major media outlets.

As for Hickson, I can see the team interested in him if Asik is gone. A plus rebounder and finisher is worth something. Given that Asik is staying for the rest of the season at least, I'm pretty comfortable with the guys we got at 4/5.

BTW, Omer is also a peacemaker:

Are these hints about new transactions?

Who are "hoodie," "Icepack" and "Fever"?

    Otherwise, #BeWell.
