Texans have been blowing picks on raw pass rushers. Mercy/Brooks Reed Brooks is a garbage man back there, and needs a dominant rusher off the other edge to pick up his numbers.
Brady sat back there in tapped on that ball for about 5 seconds... That's an eternity for ANY quarterback... And he could have took more time if he wanted to... It doesn't matter who's in your secondary if the quarterback is getting that much time. I hope that crazy dude who said he would trade Earl Thomas for J.J. watched this.
If yall pay attention to the QB, Brady scanned the all of his initial routes, and had enough time to reset and read the routes again...before settling for the route that had the best chance at a TD...really every route we saw on film was open, considering everyone was trailing behind a NE receiver. In regards to the pass rush... Starting with the Antonio smith side of the ball. You can see the guard completely blow up Antonio getting his hands on Smith's pads(a win for a linemen) and blasted him off his feet into the other pass rusher Mercilus who was already out of the play. On the Watt side of the pass rush, Watt initially was 1 on 1 at the snap of the ball and seem to quickly discard the right tackle only to be helped in the nick of time by the guard once Reed failed to do his job... The middle of the field was so wide, that a mobile QB like Russell or Kapernick wouldve jogged over to the endzone... The issue with the pass rush is two fold, Brady had a massive pocket as the OLine kept everyone in front. And everyone rushing was ineffective because of terrible technique.
You can't expect a defensive player to stay with a receiver for 5 seconds... Regardless of who that defensive player is, only a slim few can do that. It's hard enough to have tight converge for 2-3 seconds. That's why the three most valuable positions are Quaterback, Left Tackle, and PASS RUSHERS. Corners are down the line... Which is why J-Jo is highly over paid.

Don't watch much college ball, but someone I know said '12 Clowney wasn't the defensive focal point he was in '13. He said SC had 2 other players (an LB and linemen) that took pressure from Clowney. These 2 players were drafted last year, so Clowney got the full brunt of attention in '13.... thus less production How true is this?
Swearinger is probably best not to say too much, or else he'll be playing behind neither Watt nor Clowney.
It's more likely just that he wasn't as well known so opposing teams didn't have the fear of him that they had his junior year. His sophomore year they played him straight up more....which is why he destroyed pretty much everyone. Because of that, everyone was afraid of him during his junior year, causing them to run away from him/double him/rely on quick timing routes and screens.
I'm double posting this because it's relevant here as well. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Jadeveon Clowney was running a 4.46 in practice 40s, a source tells me. <a href="http://t.co/bi3AVx47IS">http://t.co/bi3AVx47IS</a></p>— Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) <a href="https://twitter.com/nfldraftscout/statuses/437264916701921280">February 22, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

The question didn't faze Jadeveon Clowney one bit. You'd figure he expected to be asked why we should believe that after getting the paycheck of a No. 1 overall pick, his career trajectory would continue to go up, what with all the talk about his worth ethic and motivation, including some from his college coach. "I want to be one of the greatest of all time," Clowney said, with the quiet forcefulness that cloaked all his words during his news conference at the NFL combine Saturday. And why should the Texans commit their top overall pick to a defensive player rather than a quarterback? "It takes defense to win championships, hands down," said Clowney, who used this year's Super Bowl as an example. Yesterday I asked Texans general manager Rick Smith this question: If there were two hypothetical players available in this draft who were guaranteed to become five-time Pro Bowl caliber players, one a defensive end and one a quarterback, which one would you take? Smith said with that guarantee, he wants both, but that quarterback is the most important position, and he'd take the quarterback. But that guarantee might not exist in this draft for any quarterback. It might with Clowney. And if the Texans don't think it does, you can bet some other team will. Clowney wants to go to Atlanta if he has a choice: “I wish [the Falcons] could trade up for me, but I hope I don’t fall to No. 6. I like Atlanta – a lot. They’re pretty good. They’ve got some guys from South Carolina on the team, also. And it’s close to home.” – Jadeveon Clowney in an interview with ESPN
Interesting, looks like he's hedging his bets after he came out early for the Texans. I wonder if he's heard something.
What? I'm not sure what you were trying to say, but what I was saying is that he's hedging against the Texans being QB desperate and passing on him. The next team he'd want to be a member of that would have interest would be the Falcons.
